Mission

Distance Education

Thank you for your interest in the Family and Community Nurse Practitioner Program at Husson University. Our graduates are among the finest practicing nurses in New England and their decision to attend our program demonstrates their desire to obtain the finest possible nurse practitioner education. Here are some of the factors that make this program so successful:
Professional Faculty
All faculty members who teach the clinical courses have an active practice where they work several hours a week. This reflects our philosophy that the best teachers are those who are practicing the profession.

Exceedingly High Success Rate
We are also exceedingly proud that all of our graduates that have taken national certifying exams to this point have passed on their first attempt, a rate of 100%. The national rate is about 86%. This again demonstrates the caliber of our students and of our exemplary faculty.

Convenient Classes
Classes will be held Friday afternoons and evenings, or every other Saturday. Summer courses will be held Wednesday evenings, or every other Saturday. The faculty recognizes that everyone needs some down time and we try very hard to keep August a month without classes. In addition, Husson utilizes different modes of distance education including interactive video and web-based discussion boards. Many of the program courses have this capability.

Curriculum
This CCNE accredited graduate program leads to the Master of Science degree (44 credit hours) or a Post-Master's certificate (up to 35 credit hours). Students enrolled in the program will complete a total of 714 clinical hours.
If you would like further information or and wish to discuss the program with myself or another faculty member, please contact our Administrative Coordinator, Amy Friedenberg at (207)-941-7001 or friedenberga@husson.edu. She can make arrangements for a visit or telephone call, whichever meets your needs. Again, thank you for your interest and we hope you will continue to consider Husson.

Respectfully,

Lisa Cyr Buchanan, M.S., F.N.P.-B.C., C.R.R.N.
