Video Production at Husson University

Video/Film Production

GET REAL FILMMAKING EXPERIENCE AND LAUNCH A CAREER IN FILM AND VIDEO PRODUCTION

Film and video are some of the most powerful and effective storytelling mediums. To be a storyteller and work in this field, though, requires knowledge, artistic talent, a strong work ethic, good judgment and critical thinking, not to mention the know-how and skill needed to operate film and video production technology and tools.

At Husson University's New England School of Communications (NESCom), we have a Video / Film Production program designed to empower you with the skills and knowledge to build a lasting and rewarding career working in film, television and video production.

WHY HUSSON

In Husson's Bachelor of Science in Video/Film production, you have opportunities starting in your very first year to get hands-on with up-to-date and professional quality production technology and equipment. Though you'll spend plenty of time in the classroom digging into film history and theory, you'll spend just as much time developing the practical filmmaking skills that will make you an invaluable and desired asset to any film or video crew. Planning, production, shooting, lighting, editing and post-production and more: you'll master all of these essential skills as you work towards earning your degree. You’ll also delve into digital media and technology, becoming proficient in the new cutting-edge techniques that will define film and video production moving forward.

You'll even get to put your learning to work, taking part in numerous professional-quality student film productions and building an impressive portfolio of work that will help you secure a job on a film crew.

CAREER OUTLOOK

With the practical, hands-on experience gained from an education at NEScom, you'll be ready to excel in whatever video and film career you choose to pursue. After you've earned your degree from Husson, you'll be ready to go to work as a producer, director, editor, production designer, production assistant, cinematographer, screenwriter or many other roles that are essential to making movies and videos.

THE CURRICULUM

As a video and film production student, you will delve into a wide range of courses designed to prepare to succeed in your filmmaking career. In addition to must-have technical skills and a deep knowledge of film, broadcast and video history, you'll also learn essential communication and critical thinking skills, and learn to collaborate effectively with your peers and fellow filmmakers to achieve spectacular results.
