Students will learn by doing, in specialized labs as they apply theory to practice.

REQUEST INFO

To tailor this degree, students may choose Pre-Medicine electives such as nutrition, epidemiology, public health, and prevention and management of chronic diseases. Students may elect to complete a Senior Science Capstone Project to take a deeper dive into an area of interest. Students will also receive guidance in helping them find volunteer and other opportunities needed to strengthen their application to their professional programs of interest.

The Pre-Med program prepares students to reason and think critically, skills needed to successfully move ahead to medical school or other health programs. After their third year, Pre-Med students will be ready to take the medical school entrance exam (MCAT).

Careers within the healthcare field are increasing rapidly. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, there will be an estimated shortfall of between 37,800 and 124,000 physicians by 2034, including in primary and specialty care.

The Pre-Medicine program is intended to prepare students for admission to medical school or other professional health programs. Students interested in pursuing a career as a physician's assistant or veterinarian, may wish to explore our Health Sciences program.
