Rene Collins, Ed.D., LCPC, R.N., Director and Clinical Counselor My apple hasn't fallen far from the tree... I graduated from Bangor High School and from the University of Maine in Orono (three times!). My only academic adventure away from this city was in Portland where I graduated from the Maine Medical Center School of Nursing. I have always been in the caring profession, and I have enjoyed my time with Husson students since 1997. Together, we have explored and worked with the joys and challenges of being a college student whether a traditional student who enters college as an 18 year old away from home for the first time, or a non-traditional student who perhaps comes to college after his or her 18 year old has left home! In addition to my work as Director of Counseling Services, I am also the Clinical Coordinator of the Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nursing Program at Husson University, and I have a private practice in Bangor. In my "spare time" I have a blast with my children and grandchildren. I am also a competitive long distance runner and love traveling to races from Alaska to Florida and many states and Canadian provinces in between. Jennifer Ruhlin, MSW, LCSW, Clinical Counselor I grew up in Bar Harbor, Maine and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development and Family Services. I then went on to complete a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. Since that time, I have worked in a variety of settings with individuals, families and couples helping to support growth and skill development. In addition to working with students at Husson University I have my own private practice in downtown Bangor. I am the newest member of the counseling department, starting in February of 2010. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with family, running and swimming. Alex Patel, MA, LMFT, Clinical Counselor Born and raised in New York State, Alex has lived throughout the US and settled happily in Maine. She is a graduate of Syracuse University where she earned a bachelor's degree in Child and Family Studies and Psychology followed by a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. Alex joined the Husson Team in the Spring of 2009, but spent several years prior to that working with college students at The University of Maine at Machias. Alex is strong defender of human rights and equality. In her down time, she enjoys hiking, swimming and paddling with family and friends Downeast. How can I make an appointment to see the counselors?
