Loan Entrance & Exit Counseling

To insure that borrowers understand their rights and obligations, federal loan programs require that students take part in entrance and exit counseling. Husson schedules entrance counseling at the beginning of each semester for first time borrowers, and we also provide links to online counseling sessions (see below).

Direct Loan Entrance Counseling
For entering students:

First time borrowers at Husson University are required to complete student loan entrance counseling before receiving loan proceeds. The purpose of the entrance counseling is to provide the student with important information regarding their rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower. Entrance counseling is scheduled at the beginning of each semester. Entrance counseling is also available online - click here. The Financial Aid Office will be notified automatically once you have completed your counseling.

Direct Loan borrowers who sign their Master Promissory Note at http://mappingyourfuture.org/oslc may complete the Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling in a single step.

Direct Loan Exit Counseling
For students who are leaving or graduating from Husson University:

Students who have borrowed Federal Loans while attending Husson University must complete exit counseling prior to leaving the University. The purpose of exit counseling is to provide the student with important information regarding loan repayment, including deferments, grace periods, loan consolidation, and loan default. Exit counseling sessions are scheduled at the end of each semester. Students who aren't able to attend a session may complete their exit counseling online at http://mappingyourfuture.org/sx

Direct Graduate PLUS Loan Entrance Counseling
Graduate PLUS Loan borrowers are required to complete entrance counseling before receiving loan proceeds. To complete the Entrance Counseling requirement, click here.

Perkins Loan Entrance Counseling
For entering students:

First time borrowers of the Federal Perkins loan are required to complete student loan entrance counseling before they receiving their loan proceeds. The purpose of entrance counseling is to provide the student with important information regarding their rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower. Entrance counseling, and the Perkins Master Promissory Note may be completed in one step at http://www.ecsi.net/prom3L The Financial Aid Office will be notified automatically once you have completed your counseling.

Perkins Loan Exit Counseling
For students who are leaving or graduating from Husson University:

 Students who have borrowed Federal Perkins loans while attending Husson University must complete student loan exit counseling prior to leaving the University. The purpose of exit counseling is to provide the student with important information regarding loan repayment, including deferments, grace periods, loan cancellation, and loan default.

U.S. Department of Education Federal Student Loan Ombudsman
The Ombudsman works informally to help borrowers resolve loan disputes and problems. The Ombudsman Customer Service Line is 1-877-557-2575. The Ombudsman assists borrowers with federal loans, including: Federal Perkins Loans, Federal Stafford Loans, Federal PLUS Loans, Direct Loans, Guaranteed Student loans, Supplemental Loans to Students (SLS), and Federal Consolidation Loans.

Student Loan History
You can monitor your student loan history by going to www.nslds.ed.gov. Students must obtain a PIN number in order to access this web site. PIN numbers can be obtained by the following methods:

  • You may request a PIN be mailed to them by registering at NSLDS.
  • You may apply for a PIN online at www.pin.ed.gov.
