The Richard E. Dyke Center for Family Business
at Husson in Bangor, Maine, is dedicated to supporting and strengthening the 30,000 family-owned businesses in Maine. The Center for Family Business serves family business owners, managers and employees through a variety of seminars and workshops.
 
The Center also features a state-of-the-art meeting and conference facility including ICV, available for use by businesses and business-related groups and organizations in Maine.
 
Facilities at the Center include conference and meeting rooms, plus a library and resource room which are open to the public daily during our regular business hours.

Center Hours
9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Monday through Friday.
 
Conference Planning
The CFB Conference Center is the ideal venue for your meeting, conference, seminar, workshop, or special event. With state-of-the-art meeting rooms, audiovisual equipment, advanced presentation technologies and an experience staff, the Conference Center will deliver an outstanding event every time. Combine these resources with an unparalleled setting and you have discovered the hidden beauty of the CFB Conference Center.
 
Individualized Service and Planning
We normally handle all of the program logistics, allowing you to focus on your program content. We understand that each event is different, and we want to create a service tailored to your needs. We can work with you to develop a customized plan that works for your program. Depending on the size and complexity of your event, you may need help in all of the areas listed here or in just a few.
 
Conference Planning
Located on a beautiful site on the Husson campus in Bangor, the CFB building is specifically designed as a business function facility complete with audio-visual, computer, high-speed Internet access, and ICV capabilities.
 
Facilities
The Center for Family Business offers two spacious Conference and Function Rooms that can be configured to meet virtually any meeting requirement.
  • The Conference Room: A 49' X 39' room that can seat up to 250 people in a variety of chair and table configurations. Multimedia presentations are made easy with our giant 7' X 9' motorized drop-down screen positioned diagonally for optimal viewing. This large space allows for in-room buffet tables and business materials tables. Registration can be accommodated at either the main entrance or at the entrance to the Conference Room itself. This large room is equipped with vertical blinds, media table and podium.
  • The Board Room: This 49' X 14'7" room is for smaller meetings. Seats up to 26 in board-room style comfort with plush caster chairs and ample room for multimedia presentations, as well as press and media coverage. The room is furnished with 26 chairs, 8 full-size conference tables, podium, media table and bookcases featuring Maine business displays. 
Program Development
We will work with you in the total development of the program. While you are the experts on the instructional content, we can:

  • Help you establish goals and objectives for the program.
  • Determine the appropriate format (conference, workshop, symposium, or short course) to meet your needs.
  • Coordinate with presenters to identify what instructional resources are needed (including audiovisual equipment, handouts, and other learning aids)

Program Administration
A successful program involves the smooth coordination of a myriad of details. No matter how big or how small your event, we provide the expert assistance to properly plan, schedule, and administer your program.
  • Long-range plan development to coordinate all program details including assignment of individual responsibilities and creation of a detailed time schedule.
  • Scheduling of meeting and event space in the The Center and in other buildings on campus as necessary.
  • Prepare appropriate signs for your event.

Publicity and Promotion
An important factor in guaranteeing success for your conference is to reach the proper target audience with appropriate publicity and promotional materials. As part of the total publicity and promotion plan for your conference, we can:

  • Work with you to produce effective brochure copy that will reflect the uniqueness of your program and provide the necessary information to potential participants.
  • Design the appropriate graphics to complement your brochure copy.
  • Print conference brochures and fliers.
  • Create a mailing list to reach your potential registrants and maintain this list for future use.
  • Mail printed brochures.
  • Arrange for news releases about your program.
Financial Management
We will work with you to develop a complete program budget. Your budget will correspond to the specific requirements of your event and can be designed to help make your program self-supporting. Our financial management assistance includes.
  • Establishment of appropriate registration fees.
  • Program tuition collection and administration
  • Income and expenses monitoring in compliance with legal and institutional requirements.
  • Accurate accounting records of all income and expenses.
  • Payment all conference payables.
  • Preparation of final conference financial report.
Meals
We help coordinate meals, and special food functions for all conference participants including:
  • Menu selection, scheduling of banquet facilities, and coordination with food service providers and caterers.
  • Refreshment breaks, continental breakfasts, and receptions.
Instructional Media Assistance
We can coordinate the services of a variety of instructional media professionals who can assist you in creating audio-visual and other learning aids for your conference.
  • Arrangement for projectors, screens, sound equipment, video projectors, recording equipment and other audiovisual equipment.
  • Production of overhead transparencies, slides, posters, charts and other presentation materials.
  • Arrangement for audio or video cassette recordings of major conference presentation.
Getting to the Center for Family Business
From the north or south, take I-95 to Bangor. Take Exit 185 (Broadway) and turn right onto Broadway. Go half a mile and and turn left onto Husson Avenue. At the stop sign, take a right. The Richard E. Dyke Center for Family Business will be on your left.
