President's Welcome

Dear Friends,

Welcome to Husson University and thank you for your interest. We hope this website will engage you and draw you deeper into our institution, whether you are a prospective student, alumnus/a or friend.

Husson prepares graduates for careers. This has been our mission since our founding back in 1898. We are "of" Maine, not just located "in" Maine. As a university we offer several professional graduate degrees on campus and around Maine. We also remain a residential, collegiate, undergraduate, teaching institution.

At Husson, we "prize" students from every background and every walk of life. We take pride in offering academic programs that lead to professional licensure and premier careers, in a "collegiate" setting, at an affordable tuition. Hundreds of students play NCAA Division III intercollegiate sports, hundreds more are actively engaged in intramurals and dozens of student organizations and activities.

Most of our programs involve hands-on-learning on and off campus and at clinical sites. Many of our students work to pay their tuition. Evening and online studies, our off campus sites and individualized programs also serve place-bound adult learners. Testaments to our success are the careers and lives of our 20,000 alumni.

Husson offers a comprehensive, residential, 170-acre university campus in Bangor, a 700-acre forest, and off campus satellite education centers in Presque Isle, Calais, South Portland and Eastport, Maine. The "College Circle Campus" blends technology, facilities and scholar/teachers in undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs, with state-of-the-arts sports and performing arts facilities.

With 3,000 degree students, Husson has divided itself into schools of business, health, education, pharmacy, and science and humanities. There is also Husson's wholly owned subsidiary, the New England School of Communications, and the Eastport Boat School. Also, sharing the College Circle Campus with Husson are the Bangor Theological Seminary, the only regionally accredited seminary in northern New England, and executive offices of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, the oldest professional community orchestra in the Nation. Each school is collegial and personal, yet, collectively, Husson is a dynamic university.

New comers, enjoy our website. Alumni and friends, welcome home. Please stop by.

Sincerely,
William H. Beardsley
President
