Husson's teacher education curriculum is designed to bring students into the real world of schools from the very first year. Education and liberal arts courses are taught side-by-side. Husson's classroom is extended into the community. We believe that teaching our children and shaping the well-being of future generations is a challenge for those among us most committed to making the world a better place.
At Husson, the Teacher Education programs are designed to combine practical experience with a strong academic foundation. Our classes are small which means that students get to know the faculty. Working with the faculty on such a personal basis will help prepare you for the rewards and challenges of teaching in the classroom. Our purpose is to prepare students to be effective educators, critical thinkers, problem solvers, and life-long learners.
Teacher Education Programs at Husson include degrees in:
- Elementary Education
- Secondary Education (with concentrations in English, Life Science, or Physical Science)
- Educational Studies (with a concentration in Elementary Education)
When you declare your major, you will be assigned an advisor who will help you:
- Plan your class schedule each semester
- Make decisions about any changes in your course of study
- Make sure that you are meeting all your requirements including practicum and student teaching experiences
- Find solutions to any challenges you may encounter with policies, procedures or academic issues
