Husson university Bachelor of Science in Pre-medicine (Pre-med program)
The Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine program provides you with a solid foundation in the sciences and a curriculum that prepares you to apply to medical school or other professional health programs. This rigorous course of study places a strong emphasis on sciences such as anatomy, biology, chemistry, epidemiology, immunology, microbiology and physiology. You will gain real-world knowledge and skills in specialized labs as you apply theory to practice.
REQUEST INFOTo tailor your Pre-Med degree to your interests and career goals, you may choose elective courses such as nutrition, epidemiology, public health, and prevention and management of chronic diseases. You may elect to complete a Senior Science Capstone Project to take a deeper dive into an area of interest. You will also receive guidance in finding volunteer and other opportunities needed to strengthen your application to your professional programs of interest.
What is Pre Med?
The Pre-Med program prepares you to reason and think critically, skills needed to successfully move ahead to medical school or other health programs. After your third year as a Pre-Med major, will be ready to take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).
Careers within the healthcare field are increasing rapidly. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, there will be an estimated shortfall of between 37,800 and 124,000 physicians by 2034, including in primary and specialty care.
Our Pre-Med degree is intended to prepare you for admission to medical school or other professional health programs. If you are interested in pursuing a career as a physician's assistant or lab research technician, you are also encouraged to explore our Health Sciences program.
