Quick Fixes

Can't wait for a tech to show up? Here are a couple of quick fixes that may solve your problem without needing to wait for IT.

1. Unplug and replug

Lots of times, unplugging a computer or printer, waiting a few seconds, and replugging it may solve the problem. Unplugging and replugging an internet cable can oftentimes fix networking issues. It only takes a few seconds to try, and it can save you a lot of time.

2. Check error messages

Chances are, you aren't the first person to run across the problem you're having. If you get an error message and don't know what it means, try running a google search for the error code or message. Using quotation marks will tell google to "search for an exact phrase."

3. Find what changed

Make sure nothing has come unplugged or nothing new is plugged in. If anything has changed recently, return it to it's original settings and try again. Sometimes this will fix the problem, at least enough to allow you to work until IT shows up.
