BANGOR, MAINE – September 28, 2023 – The first installment of the Distinguished Business Speaker Series for the 2023-2024 academic year, sponsored by MMG Insurance Company, will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from noon to 1 pm in Husson University's Gracie Theatre and feature Sean Riley, president and CEO of Maine Course Hospitality Group.

Riley is a veteran of the hospitality industry, having spent five decades managing everything from small 19-room motels to multi-hotel companies that employ hundreds of associates. His career with Maine Course Hospitality Group began in 1989, when the company consisted of just one hotel and seven restaurants. Today, MCHG is comprised of 24 hotels and partners with third-party investors to help develop and manage hotel projects.

“Our company’s purpose is to positively impact lives," Riley said. "But it starts with each of us, from the CEO to the hardworking associates in our hotels. We can impact hundreds of thousands of lives in a year. I hope I can impact the lives within the Husson community during our discussion. Let’s learn from each other during our time together. I look forward to sharing about the people who impacted my life and what went into shaping my career.

In addition to his work at MCHG, Riley has served on several local and state hospitality and tourism boards. He presently sits on the Owner Advisory Councils for Hilton and Marriott, and serves as an incorporator with Androscoggin Bank.

“We are looking forward to hearing Sean’s leadership and career journey because hospitality is a great future pathway for students and an important economic driver where 1 in 7 jobs are in the hospitality and tourism sector in Maine,” Marie Hansen, JD, PhD, SHRM-SCP, dean of the  Husson University College of Business and New England School of Business, said.
