NECHE and Husson
Assessment and Reporting Process at Husson
Husson University is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), the primary regional accrediting body, ensuring overall institutional quality for the entire university and its online programs.
At Husson University, the Office of Assessment coordinates a unified process for continuous program improvement that aligns with both institutional and specialized accreditation standards and culminates in the production of the NECHE report.

For non-licensure programs, faculty complete an annual assessment and program review report that documents progress on student learning outcomes, curriculum updates, enrollment/retention trends, and improvement actions. These annual reports serve as structured, evidence-based reflections that build toward a comprehensive multi-year review cycle. This process ensures that all programs (regardless of external accreditation) engage in regular, data-informed evaluation consistent with NECHE standards.
For accredited programs, the same foundational framework supports more extensive self-studies aligned to professional accrediting bodies such as ACOTE, CACREP, CAPTE, CCNE, DOE and IACBE. These multi-year self-studies integrate Husson’s institutional reporting expectations while demonstrating compliance with discipline-specific standards and outcomes.
Together, these parallel processes create a coherent system in which every program contributes to Husson’s culture of evidence, accountability, and continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and institutional effectiveness.
The Office of Assessment has utilized the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) standards as a framework to design an annual reporting process that aligns directly with the University’s multi-year self-study cycle. This intentional structure ensures that each year’s program review and assessment activities contribute meaningfully to long-term institutional reflection and improvement. By integrating NECHE standards into annual reporting, Husson advances data-driven decision-making, strengthens evidence of student learning, and promotes coherence across academic, operational, and strategic planning. Over time, this approach builds a sustainable culture of continuous improvement, one that supports accreditation readiness, enhances transparency, and demonstrates excellence in learning, teaching, and institutional effectiveness.
