Career Fairs 2021

Date and Time

In-Person Career Fair

November 3rd, 10am - 1pm
Newman Gymnasium

Virtual Career Fair

November 17th, 1pm - 5pm

Husson Career Services is hosting two career fairs this fall, one in-person AND one virtual.

Students and alumni are encouraged to attend both fairs to get the most out of the Career Fairs experience.

How to Prepare

Things to do before/during a Career Fair:

  1. Do your research - Browse the list of employers below and diligently research each company online. Come up with relevant questions to ask and come prepared. When you walk up to (or enter a virtual room with) an employer at these events, you should already know who the company is and what they do.
  2. Bring copies of your resume - Stop by our office well in advance of the fairs to make sure your resume and portfolio materials are in top shape. See our student website for additional tips on resume creation.
  3. Prepare a 30-second introduction - You can never redo a first impression; nail it the first time! Confidently begin by introducing yourself, expand on your resume briefly, and end strong. See this short video on elevator pitches for more help.
  4. Dress professionally - Come dressed as if you were interviewing for a job. And remember: it's always better to be overdressed than underdressed.
  5. Take notes and accept materials - Write down notes on each company after you visit them and accept business cards, especially if you make a connection with a representative.
  6. Test your internet connection - Make sure you are able to enter the virtual fair by testing your internet well ahead of time. (NOTE: you cannot use a mobile device to access the virtual fair, it must be a computer or laptop).
  7. Make an appointment with Career Services - Do you really want to stand out from the crowd? Make an appointment with one of our advisors to practice your networking skills, review your materials, and get exclusive advice for the career fairs. Call or email: (207) 404-5618 or

Things to avoid at a Career Fair:

  1. Being unprepared - Employers will instantly be turned off if you approach their booth and say "so what does your company do?". This is an opportunity for you to do your research and stand out from other job-seekers by asking relevant questions and making a good impression.
  2. Visiting booths with groups of friends - It is important to make your own impression with each employer. You can carpool with your friends, but go your separate ways when you arrive.
  3. Arriving in the last half hour - You will get the most out of the fairs if you come during the beginning. Employers from far away may have to leave early, etc. so come early if you can!
