Husson University students are working on a new late night show with the launch of The Nite Show: Performance Series, hosted by Husson’s Mark Nason.

The Performance Series replaces The Nite Show with Danny Cashman, which ended its 15th and final season in May 2025.

Focused specifically on musical performances, the new show is recorded at The Gracie Theatre on Husson’s campus with interview segments recorded in the TV studio inside the Wildey Communications Center. Each show is nearly entirely organized and produced by students, and moving the show’s filming to more than one location gives students the opportunity to work in differing studio environments.

“It’s an extremely valuable experience to be part of a show like this,” said Kaylee Mousseau, a senior student in Video/Film Production and a director and producer for The Nite Show: Performance Series. “It’s not very often that, as a college student, you get to be part of a talk show that’s airing on television. It's a really great experience for people to see behind a set like that. And you’re using skills that you learn in your classes, so it’s a really great way to practically apply things.”

The show consists of both new acts and archival footage from the 15-year run of The Nite Show, including performances not previously aired from a number of musical guests over the years. As for new music, the production team has been prioritizing finding musicians of differing styles and genres. This is planned to give students a unique setup for every taping, working with as many different types of musicians as possible.

“By bringing in a diverse selection of bands and performers, it not only makes for more compelling television, but also better educational experience for our students,” said Nason.

Cashman is an executive producer for the show.

The Nite Show: Performance Series airs on Saturday evenings throughout Maine. It’s broadcast at 11:30pm on WABI-TV5/Bangor, 10:30pm on FOX23/Portland, 11pm on NBC16/Presque Isle, or at 1am on WGME/Portland.
