Husson University is partnering with the Caleb Group and Harbor Management for the sixth year to ensure that older adults and people with disabilities at two local facilities in Bangor will have hot Thanksgiving meals.

The partnership will feed more than 160 people in need living at Bradford Commons and Kenduskeag Terrace in Bangor this year.

“I’m grateful that Husson University continues to support this initiative, which helps ensure that people in need have a hot, delicious meal to enjoy on Thanksgiving. I’m also grateful to the dining staff who volunteer to be here on the holiday to give back in this way,” said Director of Dining Services Nick Andrei.

The meals will be prepared and assembled in the kitchen of Dickerman Dining Center at Husson’s campus on Thanksgiving by an all-volunteer team that will include Director of Dining Services Nick Andrei, Associate Director of Dining Services Chris Kenney, Executive Chef Shawn Stemp, Sous Chefs Makayla Vincent and Trevor Lewis and Cook 2s Amy Aldeguer Walters and Skylar Hughes.

“This year we have 163 people who need meals, which is more than ever before. This collaboration with Husson University means a great deal to us, and we are happy to know that we will not have any resident going without a Thanksgiving dinner. We are very thankful for Nick Andrei and his staff for all their hard work in preparing the food and for continuing this annual tradition,” said Laurie Holmes, regional resident service coordinator at the Caleb Group.

Holmes and her husband transport the meals for distribution at a central location at Bradford Commons and Kenduskeag Terrace. The remainder are taken directly to residents with mobility challenges. Bradford Commons and Kenduskeag Terrace are both owned by the Caleb Group and managed by Harbor Management.

The all-inclusive meals include turkey, stuffing, potatoes, pie and more. They are provided for free.
