Frigg, a septet of internationally-known musicians, will be bringing their Finnish folk music to the Gracie Theatre on Saturday, March 8 at 7:00 p.m.
“That Frigg is coming to Bangor is quite an honor,“ said Jeri Misler, managing artistic director of the Gracie Theatre. “With 11 albums to their credit and several top honors, their level of musicianship and talent is rare and remarkable.”
Frigg is a Finnish folk music band that combines Nordic tradition and Americana in a unique way. Their sound is described as “Nordgrass,” referring to the band’s bluegrass influences and Nordic folk leanings. The tight interplay of four violins, string instruments and contrabass, fine-tuned to perfection and spiced with sparkling, humorous live-energy has made an impact on listeners all over the world.
The band’s 12th and latest album, “Dreamscapes” was just released last month. This concert tour celebrates the Dreamscapes release, along with 25 years of fiddling around the globe. “Songlines,” one of the world’s most notable world music publications, has singled out three of the group’s earlier albums for its “Top of the World” chart.
Tickets for Frigg are available online at www.gracietheatre.com or by phone at 207-941-7888. Prices range from $20-$24.50, with a special discounted price of $12.50 for children 12 and under.
