Husson University to Honor Retirees During Sixth Annual Tree Planting Ceremony

BANGOR, MAINE – Husson University announced today that it would be honoring recent retirees with a tree planting ceremony on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 3 p.m. on its Bangor campus. The tree will be planted in recognition of three individuals with more than 10 years of service who helped make this remarkable institution of higher learning a success.

Husson University employees to be honored include (in alphabetical order):

  • Stephanie Gross, PhD, associate professor, College of Science and Humanities
  • Jeanne Harvey, administrative assistant to the dean, College of Health and Education
  • Dewey Martin, BS, MS, CPA, CMA, CGMA, professor and director of the School of Accounting, College of Business.

With more than 39 years of service, Professor Dewey Martin will also be receiving a wooden chair from Husson in honor of his many contributions to the University. 

Employees to be acknowledged for their service to the University who are unable to attend the event include (in alphabetical order):

  • Bob Baker, BS Pharm, PharmD, manager of quality assurance, School of Pharmacy
  • Gwen Bartlett, BS Pharm, PharmD, BCPS, assistant professor of pharmacy, School of Pharmacy
  • Heidar Kashkooli, PhD, associate professor, College of Science and Humanities
  • Cynthia Peterson, BS, MS, coordinator for curriculum and assessment, School of Education, College of Health and Education
  • Donald Rideout, maintenance worker, Maintenance.
  • William Watson, general manager of the Westbrook Campus, director of the Husson internship and partnership programs, and instructor.
  • John Yasenchak, associate professor, counseling, College of Health and Education

“This ceremony honors a group of individuals who have helped our students grow and achieve success in a variety of professional careers. It’s an honor to plant this tree and commemorate their contributions to our University,” said Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Dr. Lynne Coy-Ogan.

Celebrants are being asked to gather in Peabody Hall’s Campus Center at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 3, prior to moving outdoors for the tree planting. The tree to be planted this year is a blue spruce. Refreshments will be served in the Campus Center at the conclusion of the ceremony.
