Students on stage at the Gracie Theatre

WHSN and the students of the New England School of Communications at Husson University were recognized again for their hard work! Their 2017 production of “The Black Cat” was honored with a first-place award in the “Student Audio Comedy or Drama” category at the 2018 Festival of Media Arts, presented by the Broadcast Education Association.

The 2017 production of “The Black Cat” is part of the New England School of Communications’ long-running radio drama series entitled “Edgar Allan Poe’s Tales of Mystery & Imagination.” Each October, this live broadcast from the stage of the Gracie Theatre, features students performing both spoken roles and live sound effects. Second place went to the University of Punjab in Lahore, Pakistan for their production of “Reshma-The Story of Hope.” Ferris State University in Michigan was awarded third place for their production of “Sister.”

The 2018 BEA Festival of Media Arts awards will be presented on April 8 and 9 at the Las Vegas Westgate Hotel & Casino. For more information on the festival, visit beaweb.org.
