Pirates and Parrotheads to be Featured at Husson University’s Gracie Theatre This Weekend

Published on: June 26, 2015

This weekend, the Gracie Theatre at Husson University will feature performances designed for both the young and the young at heart as part of Reunion 2015.

On Friday night, June 26 at 7:00 p.m., children and parents are invited to set sail with a gang of pirates when the Gracie Theatre Black Box theatre welcomes the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers starring in Everybody Loves Pirates! The family-friendly show is sponsored by Husson University’s Alumni and Friends.

Everybody Loves Pirates! features 15 hand-crafted mouth and rod puppets, and an eight foot paper-mache pirate ship. It tells the story of eight-year-old Lucy and her goofy pal Little Chucky as they search for buried treasure. The search is interrupted by a gang of bumbling pirates who keep getting in the way! The kids get some help from their new ocean-dwelling friends, including an enthusiastic superhero called Lobster Boy, his reluctant sidekick Crabby, and an overgrown sea monkey.

Tickets for Everybody Loves Pirates! are $10 per person or $30 for a family of four or more. For tickets, contact the theatre’s box office at 941-7888. Tickets are also available at the door.

The following evening at 7:30 p.m., the Gracie Theatre will top off their reunion weekend with a performance by Changes in Latitudes, the country's premier tribute show to the “Mayor of Margaritaville,” Jimmy Buffett. Over their ten-year history, this nationally acclaimed band has travelled the country with beach balls and leis flying; dancing conga lines; and "Trop Rock" fun for all.

Changes In Latitudes thrills audiences with their amazingly authentic reproduction of the Jimmy Buffett concert experience. It's the ultimate beach party and good clean fun for all ages.

Front man Steve Kareta mimics Jimmy's casual, storyteller style, while the band’s world-class musicians, travelling with a full tropical stage set-up, take audience members on a musical cruise through the sun-drenched waters of the Caribbean. You can expect to hear such classics as “Margaritaville”, “Come Monday”, "Cheeseburger In Paradise", "Volcano", and, of course, “Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes”, as well as other crowd-pleasing favorites, like “Brown Eyed Girl”, “Southern Cross”, “Another Saturday Night”, and the Alan Jackson/Jimmy Buffett smash hit "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere".

Tickets for Changes in Latitudes are available through the Gracie Theatre box office at 941-7888 or gracietheatre@husson.edu. Tickets are also available at the door.

A full schedule of reunion activities, including the Maine Lobster Bake Luau, can be found at Husson.edu/junereunion. Alumni interested in registering for Reunion 2015 or purchasing tickets for Changes in Latitudes should visit Husson.edu/alumnievents.
