Husson University and WCCC Reach Agreement to Facilitate the Transfer of Course Credit

BANGOR AND CALAIS, MAINE – Husson University and Washington County Community College (WCCC) have entered into an agreement that will create a smooth process for the transfer of credits from WCCC to Husson. A signing ceremony, representing the culmination of the agreement process, took place earlier today at 1:30 p.m. in the Boardroom on the second floor of Riverview Hall on Washington County Community College’s campus in Calais, Maine.

The agreement covers the transfer of credits from the following WCCC associate degree programs into the corresponding Husson University bachelor’s degree programs.

* WCCC Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Business Management to Husson Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Administration
* WCCC AAS in Business Management with an International Commerce Option to Husson BS in Business Administration
* WCCC AAS in Computer Technology to Husson BS in Computer Information Systems
* WCCC AAS in Computer Technology to Husson BS in Software Development
* WCCC AAS in Criminal Justice to Husson BS in Criminal Justice
* WCCC Associate of Science (AS) in Education to Husson BS in Educational Studies - Elementary Education
* WCCC AS in Education to Husson BS in Elementary Education
* WCCC AS in Healthcare Administration to Husson BS in Healthcare Studies
* WCCC AAS in Human Services to Husson BS in Psychology
* WCCC AAS in Network Security/Computer Forensics to Husson BS in Computer Information Systems
* WCCC AAS in Network Security/Computer Forensics to Husson BS in Software Development

The agreement also specifies which WCCC courses can be used to meet general elective and major requirements at Husson. Individual course equivalencies listed by program are included in the agreement to assist in the student advising process. 

In assessing the significance of the agreement between the two organizations, Husson University's College of Business Dean Marie Hansen said, "Students who successfully complete approved coursework in 11 different Washington County Community College programs can now seamlessly transfer their credits to corresponding bachelor’s degree programs at Husson University’s College of Business, College of Health and Education, and School of Science and Humanities.”

“We are excited to work with Washington County Community College to provide their students with a more seamless credit transfer process,” continued Hansen. “WCCC students interested in furthering their studies at Husson University will now be able to save time and avoid unneeded credits as a result of this agreement.”

WCCC’s President Joseph Cassidy is pleased with this new agreement. “Washington County Community College is excited to enter into this expansive transfer agreement with Husson University. Washington County residents will benefit from increased opportunities for success through these clear pathways established today. The key to economic recovery in Washington County is an educated workforce. To that end, WCCC and Husson are proud to work collaboratively to offer increased access to higher education downeast.”

In addition to Dean Hansen and President Cassidy, other individuals participating in the signing ceremony included:

• Deborah Drew, Ed. D., director of graduate counseling programs, College of Health and Education, Husson University
• Rhonda French, business studies instructor, WCCC
• Chris Howard, Ph.D., assistant professor, School of Science and Humanities, Husson University
• David Prescott, Ph.D., director of healthcare studies, School of Science and Humanities, Husson University.
• Elizabeth Sullivan, human services instructor, WCCC
