CARE Team (Campus Assessment, Response, and Engagement)

Beginning fall 2025, the Students of Concern Team (SOC) will transition to what will now be known as the CARE Team (Campus Assessment, Response, and Engagement).

This change reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering a community where students feel supported in all aspects of their well-being. The CARE Team will build on the past work of the SOC Team by identifying and assisting students, both online and in-person, who may be facing challenges that negatively impact their overall well-being or academic success. The new structure and name emphasize our proactive, compassionate approach to providing resources, intervention, and support.

Key functions of the CARE Team will include:

  • Responding to referrals of students who may be experiencing difficulties.
  • Coordinating outreach and support across departments.
  • Connecting students to appropriate campus and community resources.
  • Promoting early intervention to support student success and wellbeing.

Faculty and staff remain critical partners in this process. If you are concerned about a student, you are encouraged to submit a CARE referral through this reporting form.  The team will review the situation and provide follow-up as appropriate.

Thank you for your continued collaboration in creating a supportive and safe campus community. If you have any questions about this transition or the referral process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly.

Thank you,
Troy Morehouse, Associate Dean of Student Life
