We offer several program tracks led by experienced faculty that are experts in their field. All courses are delivered online with 24/7 access, so students can complete coursework when it is most convenient for them. Students enrolled in the APRN track and post-master’s certificate program engage in rich clinical experiences that match their career goals. Family Nurse Practitioner students attend two one-week clinical intensives guided by experienced faculty-practitioners in our state-of-the-art simulation labs.

The program offers two advanced practice nursing (APRN) tracks, two post-master’s APRN certificates, and one non-clinical track.

Choose Your Specialty

The Family Nurse Practitioner track is a 48-credit, 600-hour internship-hour program that prepares students to deliver expert and compassionate care to individuals and families in a primary care setting. The curriculum ensures graduates are ready to work with patients across the lifespan and with traditional, nontraditional and culturally diverse families. Courses are delivered online, and students are required to engage in two one-week clinical intensives on Husson’s Bangor campus. Graduates are eligible to sit for the ANCC or AANP Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Exam.

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track is a 51-credit, 600 internship-hour program that prepares students to deliver high-quality mental health care to patients from pediatric to geriatric age. Courses are delivered online, and students are required to engage in clinical experiences related to this specialty area. Graduates are eligible to sit for the Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC Certification Examination.

The Educational Leadership track is a 37-credit, 180-internship hour dual concentration program that provides students with the leadership skills necessary to excel in administrative positions in healthcare systems and academic settings. The curriculum delivers a comprehensive foundation in financial, operational, regulatory and clinical aspects of health system management. Students will develop mastery in pharmacology, pathophysiology and health assessment through innovative and integrated online coursework that focuses on education and leadership.

Our Post-Graduate APRN Certificate programs are designed for Registered Nurses with MSN degrees seeking to develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed to practice in another area of Advanced Practice Nursing. There are two track options: Family Community Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Students will engage in clinical experiences that match their specialty area.
