Biography

Dr. Valerie Sauda is the Chief Nurse Administrator and Undergraduate Director of the School of Nursing.  She received a PhD in interdisciplinary studies with focus on education and nursing from the University of Maine, Orono, ME; an M.S.N. with focus on Community Health nursing from the University of Southern Maine, Portland ME: and B.A. in Biology from the University of Southern Maine. She maintains certification with the American Nurses Credentialing Center in Gerontological Nursing, and the National League of Nursing certification in nursing education. Dr. Sauda is a Maine Gerontological Society fellow. Her areas of expertise in nursing include gerontology nursing, nursing leadership, and community health. Her current scholarship interests include science and math education within BSN nursing curriculum, interprofessional collaboration in care of older adults within community based settings, and professionalism through emotional intelligence skill development in BSN nursing programs.  Dr. Sauda participates on boards within several community and nursing organizations.
