Susan Reisman’s career in the field of marketing has spanned several decades and locations including her home town of New York City, the Philadelphia area and her adopted state of Maine. Early corporate work focused on the intersection of marketing and technology, first using Electronic Data Interchange and Electronic Funds Transfer as business-to-business marketing tools in the chemical industry and then marketing enterprise-wide computer solutions to corporate clients. As a marketing consultant, she has worked with clients in the nonprofit sector, education, professional services, tourism and technology, among others. Susan has worked in a variety of environments and positions and, without a doubt, prefers working with students to all other roles. Prior to earning her MBA at the Wharton School, Susan earned a master’s degree in social work from Columbia University with a concentration in administration and planning.Susan enjoys giving back to the community where she raised her family by serving on the boards of community organizations such as Wellspring and the Bangor Humane Society. She relishes traveling and regularly hosting travelers, both of which provide welcomed opportunities to explore different cultures.

I refer to my classrooms as “learning communities” because everyone is empowered to participate in the sharing and evaluation of content. In this context, I devote much energy to facilitating peer-to-peer learning born of student diversity. An environment that respects individuality helps students feel safe and valued, opening the door for productive risk-taking such as animated debates.
