Biography

Dr. Lisa Nekola PT, DPT, MBA is an Assistant Professor in the School of Physical Therapy.  She earned a transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from A.T. Still University, Master of Business Administration from Loyola University Chicago, and Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Marquette University. She is a Board Certified Pediatric Clinical Specialist in Physical Therapy.

Dr. Nekola’s areas of interest include pediatrics, interprofessional education, ethics and leadership. Past employment in higher education includes Kean University in New Jersey and adjunct faculty at the University of Pittsburgh. She developed the pediatric physical therapy residency program at St. Luke’s University Health Network. She is currently involved in research regarding the “Child and Family as Teacher” in Doctor of Physical Therapy programs. She is actively involved in the APTA PA Ethics Committee. Dr. Nekola participates in article reviews for the developing clinical practice guideline “Physical Therapy Intervention to Improve Mobility in Children Aged 5-12 years old with Cerebral Palsy Classified at GMFCS I, II, or III”

With a passion for helping underserved pediatric communities, Dr. Nekola focuses her practice on children with disabilities and complex medical needs. She empowers families through wellness education, encouraging active and healthy lifestyles for the whole family.
