Biography
Dr. Amy Arnett holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Vermont and a B.S. in Biology from the University of Michigan. She completed post-doctoral research at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and was a Fulbright Scholar in Slovenia in 2009. Dr. Arnett serves as both the Dean of the College of Health and Professional Studies and the Associate Provost for Online and Distance Education, where she leads the health professions and the fully online programs for the University.Dr. Arnett is particularly passionate about accessible education, creating engaging, experiential online learning, and supporting the holistic education of healthcare professionals. Since joining Husson in 2021, Dr. Arnett has worked to grow the online division through innovative programming, strong student support services, and unique, engaging courses. Since becoming Dean of the College of Health in 2024, she has lead the College to successful accreditations, enrollment growth, and faculty and program development.
Dr. Arnett’s research focuses on the impact of climate change on insect communities, biodiversity,and genetics. She has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as The American Naturalist, Evolution, Ecology letters, and The Journal of Distance Education, along with multiple invited keynote speeches and panels. Amy’s research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, and the US Fulbright Program, among other sources. Amy is passionate about increasing access to education, particularly in STEM fields, building strong healthcare communities and practitioners, and connecting to partners across Maine.
