Early Credit for High School Students - Turn Your Aspirations into Action

Earn college credit in high school through the Husson University Early College Access Program (ECAP). Designed for rising juniors and seniors, this early credit pathway lets students take college courses early, saving time and money on a future degree.

ECAP is offered to domestic students in the following states: Maine (ME), New Hampshire (NH), Vermont (VT), New York (NY), Massachusetts (MA), Connecticut (CT), Rhode Island (RI), Maryland (MD), New Jersy (NJ) and Pennsylvania (PA).

Early College Program Application Requirements

  • ECAP is available to high school rising juniors and seniors, or equivalent.
  • Qualified students may start in the summer semester between their sophomore and junior years, and participate through the spring semester of their senior year (just prior to graduation).
  • Students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 80 or equivalent or 2.7 or higher.
  • Requires both parent/guardian and high school counselor initial approval.
  • Students seeking to enroll in a 7-week accelerated course must have a minimum GPA of 90 or 3.7 or higher and have a high school counselor’s recommendation.

What am i responsible for as an ECAP student?

Once you’ve been accepted into ECAP, you may enroll in up to two courses per semester for a maximum total of 25 credits for a total of 24 months. Enrollment in courses is dependent on space availability. Some courses may have prerequisites that you’ll be required to meet.

  • ECAP students are responsible for books and materials fees. An example of a materials fee would be the access to an online portal that is associated with a specific course.
  • Complying with Husson University academic and student life policies.
  • Transportation to and from class.

The University reserves the right to cancel any course due to low enrollment. At the completion of each course, Husson University will create an official transcript noting the completed enrollment.

Academic Policies

We encourage all ECAP students to become familiar with the Husson academic policies as these policies provide guidance and illustrate expectations for students.

If an ECAP student is not performing well in a course we encourage that student to reach out to their instructor for assistance, as well as the ECAP Coordinator, to develop a plan to catch up on outstanding work. The ECAP Coordinator will include the parent and high school counselor in communications with the student to ensure that all parties understand the current challenges the student is facing, as well as the next steps that may be considered, up to and including withdrawing from the course if necessary.
