Traditional Admission Requirements for Graduate Nursing

The successful Master of Science in Nursing applicant will have received a B.S.N with a minimum 3.0 GPA, show promise of ability and motivation to pursue graduate-level study, and have completed undergraduate health assessment and statistics courses. 
The Graduate Nursing Admissions Committee makes admission decisions based on the following factors:
  • Previous college or university work
  • A personal interview with the Graduate Nursing Admissions Committee if requested by Admissions Committee.


A complete Master of Science in Nursing application includes:
  • The Graduate Application
  • Resume/CV
  • Application fee $50
  • Official transcripts of all previous college work
  • Three letters of recommendation from professional colleagues (one must be from current nursing supervisor)
  • Proof of RN licensure
A background check and immunization records are required and must be complete and uploaded to prior to course registration. Instructions for this process will be provided to the applicant upon acceptance in the Graduate Nursing Program.
Prospective students should contact the Graduate Admissions Office for information regarding application deadlines.

International Students

International applicants must submit all application credentials as listed above. If the documents are not in English, they must be translated by a reputable English translation service. Additional requirements are as follows:

  • All international transcripts must be evaluated by an evaluation service. Husson University will accept evaluations from all evaluation services that retain membership in the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)
  • Non-native English speakers must submit a test of English Proficiency. Husson University will accept one of the following:       

1. Test satisfactory on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

  • Test of Written English (TWE) scores of 5 strongly recommended and
  • 550 Paper Based Test Score (CBT) or
  • 213 Computer Based Test Score (CBT),or
  • 80 Internet Based Test Score (IBT).

 2. Minimum score of 6.5 or higher on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

 3. All students must have or be willing to obtain a valid nursing license in the U.S. or Canada.

Non-Degree Student Status for Graduate Nursing

Registering as a "non-degree student" allows you to begin your advanced education or to brush up on your skills without committing to a specific program track.

To register as a graduate non-degree student, we will need to have the following:

  • A non-degree application
  • A $25 non-refundable application fee (check or money order made out to Husson University)
  • An official transcript listing your bachelor's degree
  • A copy of your nursing license

As a non-degree student, you may take up to nine credit hours prior to completing the application process. Any Application for SS must be approved by the graduate nursing program.
