Because some students want to take a little time before they lock themselves into a major, Husson has an undeclared major which is individualized through careful advising by a professor. A first-year student can take basic science and humanities courses and test the waters with introductory courses in other major fields. Usually, by the second semester, the student has settled in and has decided on a direction for future study. With a properly designed first-year curriculum, students can receive full credit for these courses when they determine their major.
