Husson University Welcomes Business and Community Leader to Board of Trustees

Husson University is pleased to announce business leader Thomas V. Barrows has joined the University's Board of Trustees. Tom is a 1966 graduate of Husson University and brings over 45 years of professional and community service experience to his role as Trustee.
"We are very fortunate to have Tom join the Board of Trustees," stated President Robert Clark. "Tom is one of our most outstanding graduates, and the experience he has gained as both a leader in business and in his community service endeavors is going to greatly benefit our current generation of Husson students."
Tom's entire professional career was with Shell Oil Company, where he began as a sales representative in retail marketing in Portland, ME. Over the following 34 years he held senior management positions with Shell Chemical Company, Shell Exploration & Production Company and Shell Oil Company where he was Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association. He retired as head of Shell Real Estate and Property Tax, Shell U.S.A. headquartered in Houston, Texas.
In addition to his B.S. in Business Administration degree from Husson University, Tom's graduate education includes work at the University of Maine, University of Connecticut, University of Houston, and Cornell University.
Tom's community service involvement includes work as a certified volunteer counselor for the Texas State Prison System and as a volunteer with the Multiple Sclerosis Society for over 35 years. He has held several volunteer leadership and board positions in Venice Florida, where he has a winter residence. He is currently a volunteer at the Venice Regional Hospital and a Community Stakeholder at the University of Maine at Farmington. Within his Florida community he was a charter member and Vice President of the Board of Director of the Charity Foundation, Board member of the Master Association and Chairman of the Emergency Management Committee.
"Tom's enthusiasm for Husson is contagious," stated Board of Trustee Chair Dick Trott, who is a 1965 graduate of the University and one of Tom's former classmates. "His successful career in business and community service, along with his passion for this University, ensures he is going to play a very active role in the many strategic initiatives we are working toward as a Board."
Tom has been married to his wife, Joyce, for over 50 years, who together have two daughters, a son, and six grandchildren. During his nine company related physical moves, Tom coached Little League football, soccer, baseball and basketball. Mr. Barrows is a native of Farmington Maine where he maintains a summer residence.
