Through a collaboration between SSMRV and Husson University, SSMRV students can now earn their MBA degree, a credential necessary for leadership opportunities in business. This two-year program, designed for SSMRV students earning their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), is delivered online in year one and on Husson’s campus in year two. 

MBA Studies at Husson University

MBA students in Husson’s College of Business study in Harold Alfond Hall, a state-of-the-art educational center that features a financial center, an extended reality lab, and agile workspaces where faculty, students and members of the business community collaborate to deliver innovative solutions to business challenges.

Students within the MBA program study under faculty who are business leaders and skilled educators – experts who bring years of experience in fields such as business management, hospitality, software engineering, international finance, nonprofit management, counterterrorism, law and information technology.

SSMRV students in their final year of study in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Bachelor of Commerce programs are eligible for this program.

 

Program Overview

The joint MBA program consists of two parts:

  • Year One: Students will take 3 online courses from Husson along with their BBA coursework during their final year of study. Students must complete their 3-year bachelor’s degree from SSMRV and 3 online courses from Husson before they can enroll in part two of the program.
  • Year Two: Students will take 9 courses on-site at Husson University in Bangor, Maine.

Students must complete both parts with a final cumulative average of 3.0 or higher to earn the MBA.

There is no application fee to apply to Husson Univerisity. Special rates and scholarships are not available.

  • No GRE/GMAT is required.
  • Applicants must have a 2.75 GPA or higher.
  • There is an English Proficiency Test requirement (IELTS, TOEFL, and Duolingo are acceptable).
  • No work experience is necessary

Six credits of appropriate graduate-level course work, earned within five years of entry into the Husson program, may be transferred from an accredited institution if the grades earned in such course work are “B” or better.  In special circumstances, an individual who has begun a graduate management program at another accredited institution may transfer up to nine credits from the program, if those credits have been earned within five years of the date of entry into the Husson program.

Students may pay on their Husson University’s student accounts in one of three convenient ways. 

No, you do not have to live on campus.  A listing of places to search for rentals in the Greater Bangor area and surrounding communities can be obtained by contacting the Office of Graduate Admissions at graduateschool@husson.edu.

Husson University has placed International students at Aisling Cloud Technologies, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, and Dev Bangor Hospitality, LLC. Our international students have had CPT and OPT opportunities at a variety of public and private companies, banks, law firms, hospitals, pharmacies, hotels, and more. Please note, CPT is done with authorization in conjunction with a course, and OPT must be performed in the field in which the student completed their degree.

F-1 students are permitted to work on campus only. If a student is in a program with a required internship they may participate in an internship with CPT authorization. Off-campus work is prohibited unless the student qualifies for and is approved for specific authorization (CPT, Severe economic hardship, etc.)

The city of Portland, an easy 2-hour drive from campus, is home to the India Association of Maine (IAM). This cultural group organizes many social and cultural events and gathers together to celebrate holidays such as Holi, India’s Independence Day and Diwali.

Living on Campus

Husson University’s suburban campus is situated on 84 hectares in a circular layout, allowing for easy access to classrooms, library, dining facilities and the new Wellness Center for student health. 

ssmrv-townhouses-2.jpgAccommodations on campus include four traditional residence halls, as well as the Darling Learning Center, which offers suite-style living spaces. The newest living option, the townhouses, offers four bedrooms and two baths per unit, as well as a full kitchen, living room and a washer and dryer within each townhouse.

Several dining options are available on campus, including the Dickerman Dining Center, which offers made-to-order entrees and a variety of international cuisine. Several meal choices are always available to accommodate diet restrictions.

The Clara Swan Center provides the Husson community with the resources needed to optimize physical health. The fitness studio is equipped with weight training machines, free weights and other exercise equipment. Webber Pool is a 25-yard, six-lane competitive pool open to all students for conditioning and recreation.

Husson students can ride on Bangor city buses at no charge, making it easy to shop or visit the downtown area.
