Counseling Programs

Requirements for all Master of Science programs in Counseling and Human Relations

• Completed graduate application form and fees. Click here to visit the graduate application page.
  
• Three Letters of Recommendation from persons in a position to judge the applicant's preparation for, and ability to undertake, graduate study. Click here to access the graduate Letter of Recommendation form.
• Standardized test scores (Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) taken within the past five years, sent directly from the testing service. (will incllude a link) This requirement is waived for applicants already holding a graduate degree from an accredited institution. Above average score recommended except as stated below.
• B.A. or B.S. from an accredited institution of higher learning; 3.0 overall grade-point average or better recommended (see below).

Program specific requirements

M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MSCMHC)
Recommended cumulative score on GRE of 1000 or better. BA or BS in Psychology, Social and Behavioral Sciences, or related field desired.   

M.S. in Pastoral Counseling (MSPC)
In accordance with the policies of Bangor Theological Seminary and licensing regulations for the profession, this program requires a formal criminal background check for all applicants to the M.S. in Pastoral Counseling program. New applicants will receive more information on this process once their application has been received.
