Chrystal, Chrys, is a native of Maine who received her Bachelor of Science of Nursing as well as her Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Husson College. She has nearly 20 years of nursing experience. Her past roles have included bedside nursing in ICU, neurology, CCU, and Radiology. In the most recent past, she worked as a Nurse practitioner at a large cardiology practice. During that time she cared for acute as well as chronic cardiac patients, and assisted in establishing an Outpatient Congestive Heart Failure program including infusion therapy. Before leaving the practice in 2011, Chrys was the Clinical and Administrative Director of a very busy Cardiovascular Research Program. This included national as well as international research with research center such as Brigham and Women's, Harvard, and Duke University. Chrys is currently working on a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Gonzaga University.

Husson has encouraged and prepared me for the wonderful career that I have experienced so far. Now that I have been given the opportunity to be an Assistant Professor and Director of the Family and Community Nurse Practitioner track, I hope to inspire and prepare my students to take the next step and become the absolute best professionals they can while maintaining the "art" of nursing. I am married and have 2 grown daughters. I have one grandson and one granddaughter arriving very soon. My hobbies are my family, my dogs, knitting and quilting.

Therese Anderson received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry/Microbiology, her Master of Science in Biochemistry and her Master of Science in Teaching from the University of Maine. She has worked at Colby College's Chemistry Department, and the University of Maine's Water Research Institute and Department of Chemistry. In addition, she has worked for Northeast Laboratory Services, URS and Summit Environmental Consultants, Inc. Therese's relationship with Husson began in 2008, when she joined the staff as an adjunct instructor before becoming a full-time member of the faculty.

All together, Therese has over 20 years experience working with organic chemicals, including sampling, extraction and analysis of data at both public and private laboratories. As an Organic Chemist she has worked closely with Federal, State and Local officials in the analysis of organochlorine pesticides, herbicides, polychlorinated biphenyls, brominated flame retardants and dioxins/furans in a variety of matrices. She is experienced in the evaluation of data for adherence to Quality Assurance and Quality Control protocols and has served as in house data evaluator and has conducted training on health and safety issues and data ethics.

Dr. Baker joined the Husson University School of Pharmacy in June, 2012. He earned his BS degree in pharmacy from Ferris State University and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota. He also completed a post-doctoral residency in drug information practice at North Carolina Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC, trained at the National Library of Medicine and is a certified medical writer. Dr. Baker began his career as the Director, Drug Information Services at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Since then, he has built, expanded and globalized drug/medical information services at major pharmaceutical companies including The Upjohn Company, Astra USA and Roche.

Dr. Baker has been active in the Drug Information Association (DIA) where he led the Medical Communications section, presented posters, published papers and presented at many DIA workshops and national meetings. He co-created the Core Curriculum for Industry-based Medical Information Professionals, one of DIA’s most attended workshops and its first certification program. In 1998, Dr. Baker received an outstanding service award for his contributions to the DIA.

Bob grew up in East Millinocket, ME and enjoys bicycling, golf and detailing automobiles. He and his wife, Cathie, reside in Orrington, ME and enjoy their camp in Sherman, ME.

I joined the profession during the so-called ‘clinical pharmacy movement’ and have since tried to advance the profession by expanding the scope of practice opportunities for pharmacists and through training and developing pharmacy students, postgraduate residents and young practitioners. I am honored to join this faculty, many of whom have come from far away, to build this School of Pharmacy for the State of Maine.

Karl Bishop graduated from high school in Ohio and moved west to attend college in the Rocky Mountains at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. Karl earned a double-major Bachelor's degree in chemistry and physics. After starting his graduate education in physics at the University of Maine, Karl moved to Syracuse, New York, where he earned a Ph.D. in Biophysics at Syracuse University. Karl then moved to San Francisco for a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of California. Upon completion of his academic training Karl has held a number of positions in industry and academia before returning to Maine to raise a family.

Karl has published articles in many scientific journals (Biochemistry, Journal of Magnetic Resonance, Nucleic Acids Research, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and the Journal of the American Chemical Society) as well as several book chapters. His research program covers a broad range of topics ranging from nucleic acid structure and drug development to ceramic membranes used in sustainable energy development. A research program for undergraduates encompassing these areas is available in the Chemistry Program at Husson University in cooperation with Zeomatrix, LLC, a materials science company based in Orono, Maine. Karl is a co-founder of Zeomatrix and serves as its Chief Technical Officer. As the chemistry program at Husson University grows, summer internship opportunities will be available for students interested in a career in applying chemical principles to developing products for environmental remediation and alternative energy sources.

Two of my favorite quotes are "Chance favors the prepared mind." by Louis Pasteur and "It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer." by Albert Einstein. These summarize my philosophy in my teaching and my research. I try to encourage my students to keep trying, keep preparing, and keep studying. My hope is that some of my enthusiasm for science and discovery is passed along to my students. I believe that when we stop learning, we stop growing. If we stop growing, we stop living.

Robert Brooks received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Idaho with a dual-major of Zoology and Chemistry with an Art Design minor. His Master of Science degree in Human Biodynamics and Physiology is from the University of Wisconsin. Most recently, Robert's Ph.D. was earned at Washington State University, where he again dual-majored and authored two dissertations in the disciplines of Biomechanics and Health Services Education.

Robert worked as an Anatomical Pathologist at the Washington State University's Human Anatomy Lab for nearly a decade. He has been a Visiting Professor at Wake Forest University; an Assistant Professor at Lyndon State College in Vermont; an Assistant Professor/Director of Biomechanics Laboratory at Pacific University in Oregon; and an Assistant Professor at Fort Lewis College in Colorado.

Along with teaching duties at Husson, he also pursues his own research interests. Most recently, those interests have involved cellular mechanisms associated with aging, muscle growth and wasting. He is interested especially in the effects of swimming on the body.

Margaret T. Campbell, Esq. earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science, with a minor in Education from the University of Maine at Orono. She earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Maine School of Law where she worked with Professor David Cluchey on his treatise Maine Criminal Practice. After being admitted to the Maine Bar she practiced with the Bangor law firms of Vafiades, Brountas & Kominsky and Cuddy & Lanham (now Lanham & Blackwell) with a focus in the areas of Real Estate, Probate, Workers Compensation and Corporate Law. She litigated cases in State and Federal Courts as well as the Maine Workers Compensation Board, Unemployment Compensation and Human Rights Commission and appeals before the Maine Supreme Court and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. She taught legal studies courses through the University of Maine system and has taught at Husson since 2004.

Being able to teach students who are so excited to learn the law is extremely rewarding. It is a testament to the teaching philosophy at Husson that I have been encouraged to create a classroom that gives a demonstrable skill to students. I have enjoyed the freedom to include supplemental materials in the classes which build upon that provided in the texts. After learning the fundamental legal concepts set out in the text, I am able to incorporate Maine cases, statutes and other "real life" experiences and projects drafting legal documents to prepare the students for work in the legal field. Practicing law in the area has given me practical experiences as well as contacts in the community which I can draw upon to show the students not only the "what" of law but the "how to" as well.

Beth received her BSN from Northeastern University, Masters Degrees in Adult Education and Nursing from the University of Southern Maine, and a PhD in Nursing and Disabilities Studies from the University of Maine. A nurse for over 30 years, she has worked in psychiatric nursing, ICU, med-surg, and inservice education and has taught pediatric and psychiatric nursing at both the ADN and BSN levels. Beth's areas of research and academic interest include quality of life and mental illness, nursing oral history, men in nursing, self-caring, and substance abuse in nurses. She works part time on the Child and Adolescent Unit at the Acadia Hospital.

I enjoy seeing students grow as individuals and as professionals. I maintain an open-door policy and welcome students stopping by to share thoughts, puzzles, and perspective. I am married to a librarian, and have two adult daughters. My personal interests include quilting, writing, scrapbooking, reading, and swimming.

Dr. Cook received her Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in Agricultural Economics with a specialty in Marketing. Her primary areas of interest are: marketing research and international marketing. She has worked as a consultant for state, national, and international organizations. She is currently Associate Professor of Marketing at Husson and Senior Lecturer at the University of the South Pacific in Suva Fiji Islands and teaches during the 2nd trimester in the Master of Business Program for the University of the South Pacific.

My philosophy of teaching is based upon the following six concepts: supportive environments, providing choice, pleasant atmosphere, scholarly activity, relevancy, and integration.

Providing a supportive environment means providing an emotionally safe environment for the student. This does not mean lowering standards or providing easy material. Students should be given options or choices in a class as not everyone learns in the same manner. So, students should be provided with various ways to learn. Learning should take place in a pleasant environment where students are encouraged to interact in a meaningful way. However, students must be encouraged to develop critical thinking skills through scholarly activity. Material presented in class should be as recent and up-to-date as possible and be relevant to the objectives of the class. Material presented in class should also relate to other courses that have been taken or are being taken.

All classes are presented with the above concepts in mind.

Adam Crowley received both his B.A. and M.A. in English from the University of Maine, Orono, and his Ph.D. in English from the University of New Brunswick. Adam has taught English skills at Beal College, the University of Maine and the University of New Brunswick.

Writing numerous pieces of fiction, he has been published by such entities as The Maine Review, Seattle Press, The Stolen Island Review, PeriodBooks.com, Spoiledink.com and QWERTY. Adam has been the recipient of grants and fellowships, most notably the Magee Fellowhip in the Humanities and Social Sciences, the English Graduate Society Travel Grant and the University of New Brunswick English Department Travel Grant. He also received a nomination for Best New American Voices, 2004. Although an English scholar, Adam is also a student of the German language.

Dr. Conrad Dhing is an Associate Professor of Social and Administrative Sciences in the Department of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Before joining Husson University in July 2009, Conrad taught at Long Island University and St. John's University in New York. He was also a health economics consultant for a research firm in New York City.

Conrad's research interest is focused on the pedagogy of pharmacy education and secondary data analyses, with emphasis on the access and utilization of health care services and medications. He has over 20 research papers and posters presented at national meetings and was a regular speaker at pharmacy continuing education programs. Conrad was inducted into Rho Chi, Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa and the Mortar Board. He was also awarded Teacher of the Year in 2006.

I believe these are exciting times for everyone, especially the pharmacy and health care students in Maine and across the country. The practice of pharmacy is evolving and so is the health care system. Husson University, School of Pharmacy has a great team of faculty and administrators to prepare and guide our students towards their future.
