Executive Director

Husson University, a comprehensive, private university, seeks a full time Executive Director for the Division of Extended Learning in Southern Maine. The Executive Director is the primary administrator for the academic programs and offerings at this University's location. Reporting to the Provost and in consultation with the Dean of the College of Business, the Executive Director is responsible for the entire operations of the site. Accordingly, the Executive Director is responsible for developing a strategy to create a distinctive niche among competitors in the Southern Maine market. This involves optimizing student enrollment and retention, facilitating academic excellence in the programs offered by the Division, enhancing the Division's external recognition, and furthering the University's integration into the Southern Maine business community. These efforts will be carried out through repetitive collaboration with the various departments and units at Husson's main campus in Bangor.

In conjunction with academic departments at the main campus, the Executive Director fosters the development of adjunct faculty in meeting the learning needs of the students. The Executive Director will support adjunct faculty in carrying out their responsibilities regardless of the modalities of delivery. Academic programs offered in Southern Maine currently include Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Hospitality Management, Criminal Justice, Elementary Education, and Paralegal Studies. Master's degree programs include Business Administration, Criminal Justice Administration, Nursing, and Counseling.

Essential functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•Formulates and implements goals for the Southern Maine Division of Extended Learning.
•Ensures adherence to University policies and procedures.
•Promotes the safety and security of all students and staff who study in the Southern Maine Division.
•Supervises staff and adjunct faculty in conjunction with the academic deans.
•Recruits and trains new adjunct faculty and staff as needed.
•Ensures that adjunct faculty members fulfill their contractual responsibilities
•Creates course schedules in accordance with the expectations of the University’s Schools, Colleges and Registrar.
•Oversees the maintenance of the facilities and the use of space.
•Organizes ceremonies and visits to and from the location as needed.
•Proposes strategies for marketing and recruiting of students in Southern Maine. Implements strategies in collaboration and upon the directives of the Provost and Director of Communications.
•Attends college fairs and engages existing and prospective students for purposes of enhancing enrollments and retention.
•Creates and manages an annual budget for the Division.
•Works with staff members to enhance client service and institution-wide commitment to the mission of the University.
•Participates in institution-wide formal and informal activities as requested.
•Ability to teach up to one course per semester.


Education: PhD or other earned doctorate in a business or related field preferred; ABD or Master’s with experience considered.

Experience: A minimum of three years’ experience in higher education. Direct supervisor experience and managerial leadership involving professional, students and support personnel.
