Husson University Professor Dr. Thomas W. "Tom" Hutchison Passes Away

Husson University Professor and Program Director Thomas W. "Tom" Hutchison, Ph.D. passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2012 in Surry, Maine.
Hutchison joined Husson University's College of Business in August 2010 as Professor, Director of the School of Business and Management, and as Executive Director of Academic Affairs. During his time at Husson, his exceptional understanding of technology its use in creating strong learning communities was evident in his work. He was responsible for the development of the University's online MBA program and its MBA program at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine.
"Tom's warm personality, friendliness, and professionalism will be missed," stated Dean of the College of Business Ron Nykiel.
He previously taught in the Department of Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University where he was the Coordinator of the Music Business Program, the Music Business Internship Program, The Online Music Business Program and Coordinator of Marketing and Recruitment for the department.
His industry activities include ongoing consulting, member of the 2004 National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) Convention Committee, member of the Americana Music Association (AMA) research committee, panelist and moderator of the Internet Marketing Panel at the 2003 AMA Convention, former member of the NARM Retail Certification Committee and was the coordinator of the NARM Educator's Outreach Committee.
In addition to his academic and business pursuits, Hutchison was a respected musician. He was a member of bands like the popular beach-music group The Eight of Us and released six singles and an album as Hutch n' Hoss with longtime music partner Dick Hosford.
Hutchison is survived by his wife, Lynne, as well as family members, friends and colleagues. A memorial service is being planned.
