Husson University Inducts Renowned Forestry Community Leader Donald P. White and Top Performing Physical Therapy Graduate Jessica B. House into Alumni Hall of Fame

Husson University will induct Donald P. White, a renowned leader in the Maine forestry industry, and Jessica B. House, a top performing physical therapy graduate, at a special recognition ceremony at 6:30pm on Saturday, October 1st in the Gracie Theatre.

Donald P. White graduated with honors from Husson in 1975 and then spent 12 years working for a Bangor-based entrepreneur. He then began his work at Prentiss and Carlisle Company in Bangor, where he began as the chief financial officer and rose to the position of president in 2000. Under his leadership, Prentiss and Carlisle expanded their operations to 6 states and Canada, increased their lines of business, created a program for small land owners, developed a national consulting presence and received the Austin Wilkins Forest Stewardship Award, presented for outstanding stewardship of the working forest of Maine. Don served on the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, as treasurer and as president of the Maine Forest Products Council and was a member of the Board of Directors of Farm Credit of Maine. In 2010 he serves on the transition team for newly-elected governor Paul LePage.

Jessica B. House, DO, MSPT will receive the Husson University Distinguished Young Alumni Award. After receiving her Master's degree in Physical Therapy from Husson University in 2000, she continued her education at the University of New England and earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. At Husson she received the President's Prize, established to recognize extraordinary academic achievement and the Watch Award in Physical Therapy. While at UNE she ranked in the top 10% of her class and was recognized during her residency for excellence by Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Jessica has remained active in her community even while completing her education volunteering at Med Trek, Penobscot Valley Hospital, Alpha One and many others.

The recognition ceremony costs $15 to attend and includes a cocktail reception. Registration and additional information is available on the Husson University website at www.husson.edu/homecoming. The event is part of the University's Homecoming Weekend celebration, which also includes an alumni and friends reunion with entertainment by Motor Booty Affair, nationally-known comedian Juston McKinney, and a series of athletic events.
