Husson University Announces Tourism Research Institute, Expansion of Hospitality, Sport, and Tourism Management Programs

The College of Business at Husson University is pleased to announce the appointment of Marilynne Jones Mann to the position of Director of the Tourism Research Institute (TRI) at Husson and Instructor in the School of Hospitality, Sports and Tourism Management. Ms. Mann comes to Husson University from the University of Maine where she has been actively involved in workforce development training and tourism market research as the interim director of the Center for Tourism Research and Outreach (CenTRO). She additionally brings a strong research background including grant experiences with the Northeastern States Research Cooperative.

Dean Ron Nykiel of the College of Business notes, "Not only are we developing statewide capacity and relevance with our Tourism Research Institute, but we are also taking our substantial strengths in tourism and hospitality management statewide with programs and industry partnerships offered through our Portland and Presque Isle campuses."

Husson University is increasing the educational opportunities in its School of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management. According to School Director Lee Speronis, "These are exciting times indeed -- the Hospitality programs continue to be the fastest growing programs at Husson." The School is adding a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management to its current Hospitality Management program offerings that range from a minor/concentration through a M.B.A. In response to student and industry interest, the School has also redesigned its Sport Management curriculum. Together these programs open up a wide array of career options for students.
