Husson University Partners with Chinese Language and Culture Center of Maine for Chinese New Year Celebration Event

Husson University and the Chinese Language and Culture Center of Maine (CLCCM) will sponsor a Chinese New Year Celebration on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 1:00 – 4:30 p.m. The event is open to international students currently enrolled in Maine high schools. The dinner and full program will take place in the G. Peirce Webber Campus Center located in Peabody Hall. Students are offered a special $10 rate to attend the event.

Schools are invited to prepare a 5-minute performance, which could include a skit, song, reading, and more. A $100 prize will be awarded for the best performance. The event schedule is as follows:

1:00 p.m. – Registration
1:30 p.m. – Campus Tours, Performance Practice, Meet/Mingle with Other Students
2:30 p.m. – Performances and Door Prizes
3:30 p.m. – Chinese New Year’s Dinner

The Chinese New Year celebration will include dance, music, and skits performed by students representing schools throughout the State of Maine. Following the performances, a dinner featuring Chinese holiday food will be provided.

“It is our pleasure to have this special opportunity to celebrate the Year of the Snake with Husson University,” said Jing Zhang, Director of CLCCM and President of the Bangor Chinese School. “We very much appreciate the years of partnership and together we will do more for Maine’s education and business communities in this lucky year of the Snake.”
