Dean's Welcome

Have you ever thought about what it means to be a creative professional? In today’s economy, those who are successful possess a unique combination of practical expertise and inspiration.

The New England School of Communications (NESCom) at Husson University, Northern New England’s leading educator of creative professionals, is looking for students who are willing to embrace today’s technology and communications techniques to connect with others at both an intellectual and emotional level.

Our students often come to us with a spark of creativity. At NESCom, we teach students how to harness that energy and create careers where their originality can flourish.

NESCom students think outside of the box. They’re dedicated to sharing their artistry through creative processes in sight and sound. Our faculty members help our students master technology in a real-world learning environment. Armed with the knowledge of how to create memorable audience experiences, our graduates leave Husson University ready to become successful. NESCom graduates enjoy going to work, doing jobs that are fun and in demand as part of professions that stretch their imagination and creativity to the limit.

If you’re looking for an education where you can be yourself and develop your unique style, both in or out of the spotlight, then Husson University’s New England School of Communications is for you.

Our learn-by-doing approach offers students numerous opportunities to explore all that the communications industry has to offer.

News and Sports: NESCom students have the opportunity to produce local and regional news and sports, and broadcast it on the NESCom Broadcast Network (NBN) and WHSN-FM 89.3 FM. This includes providing play-by-play commentary for live sports events on our award-winning radio station.

Live Events: Our students produce concerts, sports and other newsworthy events in the community utilizing one of Maine’s most advanced broadcast mobile trucks. Live theatrical productions are also an option. You’ll be able to design, build, and manage all types of performances; everything from small community presentations to nationally recognized artists.

Recording Studios: Utilizing state of the art equipment, our students record bands in our audio studio on an API console then mix it in ProTools in our new Aid S6 work surface.

Entertainment: Husson University students are responsible for all of the technical and leadership positions necessary to produce a late-night talk show that airs on television stations throughout Maine.

Filmmaking: NESCom students write, produce, direct, shoot, and edit their own films. These films have won numerous awards at prestigious film festivals.

Outstanding Technology: NESCom equipment is the same technology used by today’s professionals. Unlike other communications programs, at NESCom, you’ll be able to start working with equipment your first year.

We invite you to learn more about our degree and certification offerings. If you’re new to the industry, NESCom is great way to begin a career. If you’re a working professional, NESCom can help further your understanding of communication technology, mass communications and entertainment production.

Regardless of your communication career goals, your professional success begins at NESCom.

Grounded in the practical. Driven by creativity. That’s the kind of education we offer at Husson University’s New England School of Communications.

We look forward to having you join us.
