More Than 700 New Students Will Enter
“Since the year 2000 our overall enrollment has grown by 100 students each year,” said Dr. Richard Stephens, Husson’s Chief Academic Officer. “This year’s entering class of 700 is our largest ever and brings us students from all across Maine and the United States. We have added 12 new faculty, new programs is Chemistry/Pre-Pharmacy, Health Science, and Education, and a new Dean of Students.” Students from 225 Maine cities and towns and 21 states make up this years class. There are also students from as far away as India and Turkey. 21 Maine valedictorians and salutatorians have chosen Husson to continue their education. “With increased retention and the record entering class Husson finds itself literally bursting at the seams,” said Stephens. “We have 25 students in our new Chemistry program that will lead to the doctorate in pharmacy program. This program is a continued escalation of our academic rigor and brings a new educational paradigm to our campus. Also, we are continuing to improve our responsiveness to student, faculty and community needs for higher quality in the educational experience we deliver.” “The residence halls are full and we are operating at full capacity,” said Dean of the College John Rubino. "We are especially excited because not only is this our largest entering class but it is an extremely well-prepared group of students.” “We will have 2,200 full-time undergraduates on campus this fall along with additional students in an array of graduate and part-time programs,” said Dean Rubino. “One interesting statistic is a 42% increase in the number of transfer students entering Husson.” The Husson Campus is also home to the New England School of Communications. NESCom has an entering class of 180 which brings their enrollment to just over 400 students. New Student Orientation and Welcome Weekend begins on Saturday, September 1. Classes begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4.
