Loan Forgiveness Programs

Loan Forgiveness Programs allow students who work in certain fields to have some of their school loans forgiven. Each program offers certain criteria that a student must meet in order to take part in these programs. For further information, you can contact your lender, speak with the Human Resource Department in your place of employment or contact the Financial Aid Office.

Perkins Loan Forgiveness

While attending Husson University, if you had a Federal Perkins Loan, you may be eligible for loan forgiveness if you are working in one of the following fields:
  • Teacher in a designated school
  • Teacher of Mathematics, science, foreign languages, bilingual education
  • Staff member performing qualified services under the Head Start Act
  • Law Enforcement/Correction Officer
  • Medical Technician
  • Nurse
  • Peace Corps or AmeriCorps/VISTA Volunteer
  • Work in a Family Services of Non-Profit Child Agency

 

Stafford or Direct Loan Forgiveness

While at Husson University, if you had a Stafford or Direct Loan, you may be eligible for Loan Forgiveness if you are working in one of the following fields:
  • Behavioral or Mental Health Providers
  • Nurse
  • Peace Corps or AmeriCorps/VISTA Volunteer
  • School Guidance Counselor
  • Staff member performing qualified services under the Head Start Act
  • Teacher - meeting specific qualifications
  • Work in a Family Services of Non-Profit Child Agency
