Dr. O’Neill earned a B.A. in Political Science at Castleton State College and a B.S. in Nursing at the University of the District of Columbia. She worked in a variety of health care settings and later earned dual Master’s degrees at Yale University in Nursing Management and Policy and Public Health. For the last fifteen years her focus has been advocacy for children. She was an Assistant Child Advocate for the State of Connecticut for eleven years investigating the circumstances of children and promoting responsive public policy. Dr. O’Neill earned a Ph.D. from Yale University in 2011. Her research interests include qualitative studies in public policy affecting children and people with disabilities. She is an active member of the Yale Interdisciplinary Center on Bioethics.

Nurses are uniquely situated to improve the health and wellbeing of the community. The art of nursing extends beyond direct comfort and care to the ability to inform health systems and public policy about the best ways to meet the needs of the public. I welcome the opportunity to introduce future nurses to their amazing power and potential.

Peg received her physical therapy education at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and has a Master's in Education from the University of Maine. She is currently a PhD student in Higher Education at the University of Maine, Orono. She is a board certified Neurological Clinical Specialist, credentialed by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Peg has been a practicing physical therapist for more than 30 years, working in a variety of hospital settings in Wisconsin and Maine in addition to traveling therapist positions in Michigan and New Mexico. She has also worked in home health, skilled nursing, and long-term care facilities, as well as a CARF accredited head injury program. Peg has been a Clinical Instructor for nearly all of her professional years, guiding one to four PT/PTA students every year from around the United States. She enjoys working with patients who have gait, vestibular, and balance disorders. She is currently teaching Patient Care Seminars and assisting in many of the fourth-year courses.

I am excited to be a part of your educational experience here at Husson University! I enjoy classroom, small group, and one-to-one learning interactions. I learn every time I step into an interaction with students. I agree with Ben Sidaway that Husson is the place for the student who wants to find the answers to the questions of why and how the human body moves and functions, followed by the questions about prevention and rehabilitation of people with injuries and diseases that affect the body's function!

Erin Owen attended Wellesley College, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Biological Science. She went on to study at the Friday Harbor Laboratories where she took a specialized course in the Evolution of Development Patterns. Erin earned her Masters Degree in Marine Biology from Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego, California. Most recently, she received her Ph.D. in Marine Biology from the University of Maine. During the course of her education she did to do field research on zooplankton communities in the Weddell Sea, Antarctica. She also studied the spatial and temporal structure of sea scallop populations in the Gulf of Maine.

Erin has taught throughout her academic career. She was a teaching assistant at Wellesley and at the Shoals Marine Laboratory. While at the University of Maine she worked with K-12 educators to design and implement hands-on methods of teaching science to students in Maine public schools. Also, before coming to Husson, she was a lecturer at the University College of Bangor.

Through out her career, Erin was been awarded many research-based fellowships and grants such as the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Summer Student Fellowship, The Explorers Club Exploratory Research Grant, and the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. Most recently, she was awarded the Presentation Award from the University of Maine School of Marine Sciences. Putting her knowledge to work, Erin served on numerous committees including the Steering Committee for the Maine DMR Scallop Enhancement Workshop.
