Biography

Jessica Y. Hacker joined the faculty of Husson University in August, 2023 as an Assistant Professor of Psychology. Dr. Hacker earned her BS in Psychology and MS in Research Psychology at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga before earning her PhD in Cognitive and Brain Sciences at Louisiana State University. Her primary research interests are metamemory, cognitive control, and prospective memory. She is primarily interested in how individuals leverage their cognitive abilities to support memory functioning. Her dissertation titled, “Effects of Task-switching on Proactive Control and Metamemory Regulation” examined how shifting attention between two different tasks affected individuals ability to both engage in proactive cognitive control and to predict their memory performance. Dr. Hacker has a special interest in mentoring scholars and looks forward to teaching a variety of courses at Husson University.
