SPJ stands for the Society for Professional Journalists. This organization is both an approved Husson University club and an approved student chapter of the national organization.

On campus the majority of the club's work is related to educational events that are open to all. Typically the events are related to journalism, sports journalism, videography or photography.

At the national and regional level, SPJ promotes the free flow of information vital to informing citizens; works to inspire and educate the next generation of journalists; and fights to protect First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and press. A regional conference is held every spring in the New England area, a national conference is held every fall.
