download to a personal computer. Theses titles are available free
through the Maine Infonet Download Library.
Getting Started Download
the free digital media software – Overdrive Media Console. This
application allows you to download and keep track of audiobooks. You
may download the software and see system requirements at http://www.overdrive.com/software/omc/

Click the link to go to the Maine Infonet Download Library
Select 'Login' from the top menu bar
Type 'Husson Univeristy' into the Sign In box and choose it from the list displayed
Enter your library card number from the back of your Husson ID beginning with 'HUS'
Searching for Audiobooks Type
an author, title or ISBN into the ‘Quick Search’ box and click the ‘Go’
button. If you don’t have a particular title in mind, you may scroll
down and browse titles by a variety of collection and genre types, such
as historical fiction, mystery, biography, teen, new arrivals and more.
The results of your search may be sorted by title, creator, release
date, most popular and date added to database links located at the top
of the screen.
Each entry tells what format the audio book comes in and to what type of device it can be downloaded to and listened on.

Click
on the title link for more information about the book. The full record
of a book will include a summary of the book, the edition (abridged or
unabridged), the number of parts and duration, the publisher and digital
rights information.
Once
you find a title you want, click the “Add to Cart” link. Titles added
to your cart will remain for 45 minutes while you continue to search the
collection.
Checking Out and Downloading Audiobooks Click on the “My Cart” link at the top of the screen, and then choose “Proceed to Checkout”.
Review
the selections and choose either '7 Day Checkout' or '14 Day Checkout'
for each item. Click the “Confirm Checkout” button. Finally, click the
“Download This Item” button. The OverDrive Media Console dialog box
will open. Titles are divided into parts. All parts may be downloaded
together, or individual parts may be downloaded separately throughout
the loan period.
Once
downloaded to a computer, titles can be transferred to the appropriate
portable device within the loan period. To find out which portable
devices will work, go to OverDrive’s Device Resource Center.
This site list both devices that are compatible and those that are
incompatible with Maine Infonet Download Library. There are also links
to each manufacturer’s product pages. If indicated, some titles may be
burned to CDs. Use the Transfer or Burn to CD wizards
built-into the OverDrive software to accomplish either of these
processes.
Three
titles may be checked out at a time. At the end of the loan period,
the books will ‘return’ to the Download Library to be available for the
next borrower and the downloaded files will not be playable on your
computer or portable device. The files will remain playable on any CDs
that may have been burned.
Placing Holds If
a title is not currently available, you have the option to place a
“Hold” on it. This puts you in the queue to be able to download the
title. You will be asked for an email address during the Check Out
process. This information is required so that you can be notified when
the title becomes available along with instructions on how to check the
title out. The title will be held for you for three days starting when
the notice of availability is emailed. A ‘hold’ may be place on up to
three titles at a time.
Help There
is a “Digital Book Tour” available at the Maine Infonet Download
Library site to help patrons with everything from browsing the
collection to downloading selections to burning audiobooks to CDs.
There is also a Digital Help – FAQ that can be consulted. Finally,
don’t hesitate to consult a librarian.
