Tom Martz came to Husson University the summer of 2010. Tom’s 37-year career in advancement has been served at several universities including the University of San Diego, the University of California at Berkeley, Rockhurst University, University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the University of Alabama. Immediately before coming to Husson, Tom served at his alma mater as the President and CEO of the Indiana University Alumni Association.
Tom was born in Austin, Texas, into a military family. Much of his early childhood was spent in Paris, France. Tom believes that all students should have an international experience in order for them to be successful in their 21st century careers. “We all live in a global environment. What happens in China or Germany impacts what happens in Bangor, Maine. Students must have international exposure to allow them to be the most successful in the future."
Both Tom and his wife, Mary, are artists. In the past, they have endowed scholarships to allow students to study art in Paris or other international sites.
