Locating Books
Use Minerva, the library's online catalog, to search for books owned by the
library. To search Minerva, click on Finding
Books and then "Access Minerva Now". Typical subject headings
to search under include: Athletes, Athletics, Coaching (Athletics), Recreation--Management,
Recreational Leadership, Sports, Sports Administration, Sports Facilities--Management.
Also, try combining the terms athletics, recreation and sports with other terms
to narrow your search results. For browsing purposes, the call number range
for the majority of sports managements books are: GV (Sport, Recreation & Leisure)
and HD 9992 - 9993 (Sporting Goods Industry).
Locating Journal Articles
Click on Finding Articles. Scroll down and
click on the Go to Online Resources and Journal Indexes Now link. To find articles
in journals, choose an index or resource from the alphabetical list. Or, click
on one of the subject areas to see only the indexes and resources appropriate
for that subject. A few of the appropriate resources for sports management topics
are listed below. You have to check our List of Journal Subscriptions to see
if Sawyer Library owns the journal an article is in. The
list may be accessed by clicking here to go to the Finding Articles page.

economics, finance, banking, accounting, and much more. * It includes the full
text of many articles. Searches may be limited to only peer reviewed articles.
MasterFILE Premier
An index of articles from over 1,770 periodicals covering nearly all subjects
including general reference, business, health and much more. *It includes
the full text of many articles. Searches may be limited to only peer reviewed
articles.
Physical Education
Index
A bibliographic index of articles from more than 330 peer-reviewed journals,
report literature, conference proceedings, trade magazines, patents, articles
from the popular press, and many other publications. Articles cover a variety
of subject areas, including physical education, physical therapy, sport law,
kinesiology, motor learning, recreation, standardized fitness tests, sports
equipment, business and marketing, coaching and training, and sport sociology/psychology.
Coverage begins in 1970.
FirstSearch
A service which provides access to approximately 60 bibliographic and full-text
databases. *Searches may be limited to articles found only in journals owned
by the Husson Library. It includes the following indexes that are most appropriate
for sports management:

For browsing purposes, the call number ranges for the majority of literature books are: PR 1 - 9680 (English literature and authors), PS 1 - 3576 (American literature and authors).

Literature Resource Center
This database provides access to an immense collection of biographies, bibliographies, critical essays, work overviews, author-related websites, and timeline events for more than 120,000 authors from every age and literary discipline. The library has a separate handout which explains its use.
