Dr. Aaron Domina joined Husson University in July 2009 with an appointment in both Pharmacy and Biology. Previously, he taught for five years as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts. He earned a B.S. degree in Biochemistry from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, followed by a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Dartmouth Medical School. For his graduate work, he studied the phosphorylation of MCL-1, a protein that helps regulate cell death. Aaron then studied host-pathogen interactions (e.g. Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis virus, Sindbis virus, SARS virus, and Bacillus anthracis) during a postdoctoral research appointment at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He has co-authored research articles in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Oncogene, and Virology and for his graduate studies received the The John W. Strohbehn Award for Excellence in Biomedical Research. Outside of work, Aaron enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as hiking, backpacking, gardening, and supporting various social justice and environmental efforts.
I am grateful for the educational opportunities I have received and am appreciative for the generous investment of numerous individuals. In turn, I seek to invest in the education of my students. For each course, I diligently prepare to challenge students to learn the subject and support them to do so. While expectations are set high, I value every student and encourage each to achieve her or his full potential, even those who might struggle with the material. While it is difficult to get to know every student in a larger lecture, I welcome students to stop by my office for more personal instruction.
In addition to classroom learning, I promote student engagement with various social and environmental issues. Some of my most meaningful student interactions have come during discussions on how a student plans to become involved in a larger community by addressing a particular problem. I hope to continue not only to prepare students for their chosen profession, but also to promote their involvement with the needs of the world around them.

Carolyn Dorfman received a BA in Biology from University of Colorado and a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University. Her PhD is in Adult Education from Capella University. Dr. Dorfman served as a faculty member in the Occupational Therapy Department at the College of St Scholastica in Duluth, MN for 18 years. She began teaching at Husson University in the Fall of 2012. Dr. Dorfman’s Occupational therapy specialty is neuro-rehabilitation, vision, and orthopedics. She has been involved in research about OT teaching methods, service learning, handwriting, and memory.

Deb is a Counselor Educator, Licensed Professional Counselor (LCPC), Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), as well as a certified Professional School Counselor. She joined the faculty at Husson in 2007, having previously served as a faculty member in the Counselor Education program at the University of Southern Maine. Her career spans more than three decades serving education in Maine as a teacher, school counselor, and counselor educator. In addition, she has a private practice offering counseling, consulting, and clinical supervision.
Deb has a passion for rural Maine and its people, especially its counselors and young people. Her areas of interest include mental health counseling, school counseling, career counseling, ethical decision-making, and clinical supervision.
Deb has an undergraduate degree in history, a master's degree, and a doctoral degree in Counselor Education all from the University of Maine. Deb is an active member of several national, regional, and state professional organizations that serve the profession of counseling.
Deb is, most importantly, a wife, mother, and grandmother; the best 'careers' of all!

The profession of Counseling has evolved significantly over the span of my career from vocational and school counseling to the Counselor of today who may specialize in Mental Health, School, Career, Pastoral and Spiritual, Addictions, Counselor Education and Supervision, Rehabilitation, or any of the 22 specialties identified by the American Counseling Association. The search for Counselor Identity continues with the 2020 visioning work of the ACA.
Unity in the Counseling profession has been a goal and a passion for which I have worked throughout my career. I firmly believe that we, Counselors, are a noble and highly skilled profession, but that we are too small to be divisive. Through my work at Husson University I apply this philosophy by engaging students in the four counseling programs together in the same core courses and in Practicum and Internship classes. I am excited that Husson University’s focus on interprofessional collaboration now encourages us to extend this philosophy and practice to promote teaming and unity with students preparing to become teachers, health care practitioners, and business and criminal justice professionals.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Duron joined the Husson faculty in the fall of 2005. Before relocating to Maine from Chadron, Nebraska, he taught accounting at Chadron State College for 9 years where his excellence in teaching and scholarship were recognized by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs and the American Accounting Association. Dr. Duron holds a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Capella University. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in both Texas and Maine and is a member of several related professional organizations. In addition to his teaching experience, Bobby brings 13 years of full-time professional experience in public accounting, private industry, and governmental/nonprofit management to the classroom. His personal interests include music, craft brewing, and spending time with family and friends.
My essential philosophy of teaching and learning is to assist students in becoming lifelong learners who are highly proficient in their field of study, able to adapt to a dynamic business world, and who contribute to the overall betterment of society. Recognizing that I am on the same journey as that of my students, I make a concerted effort to model these values by remaining professionally active and technically current in my field and, importantly, sharing these skills in a variety of volunteer settings.

Laurie graduated from the EMMC diploma program in 1975. She went on to St. Joseph’s College and received an undergraduate degree in Professional Arts with a concentration on Adult Learners. Laurie has been working as a nurse/nurse practitioner in women's health for most of her professional life. She has a lot of experience with native and rural populations (Alaska, Maine and Nicaragua.) After moving to Alaska and working for five years in the field of Public Health, Laurie returned to Maine. After her return, she became certified as a Women’s Health Certified Nurse Practitioner. Laurie served as the Director of Penquis Health (women’s health & family planning) for 20 years. During the course of those 20 years, Laurie also received her BSN in Nursing and MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Maine. She has worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Husson Capehart Health Clinic, and is hoping to begin her Ph.D. studies in the next year or so.
Though I have taught graduate Husson FNP students Women’s Health for 4 years, this is my first full-time faculty appointment and I look forward to helping students appreciate and love nursing as much as I do.

Richard Fabri received his Bachelor of Physical Education from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, a Master’s in Sport Administration from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Maine in Orono, Maine. He has spent the past several years working at the University of Maine at Machias as the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Director of the Center for Lifelong Learning. As the Director of Athletics, Richard was named the NAIA Region X Athletic Director of the Year, served on Region X’s executive board and several NAIA national committees.
Richard has also worked at Centers, LLC. at DePaul University, Northeastern University, and the University of Rio Grande where he has had the opportunity to develop several new recreation programs, departments and facilities. He has also had the opportunity to be a subject matter expert and faculty member for the American Council on Exercise. He has spent many years coaching high school and middle school basketball, baseball, and softball. Richard currently resides in East Machias, Maine with his wife and two children.

Dr. Tom Fitzpatrick completed his Doctorate of Business Administration specializing in International Business and Strategic Management at Southern New Hampshire University. His Masters in International Business is from the American Graduate School of International Management or also known as Thunderbird and his Bachelor of Arts is in Political Science and History from Concordia University of Montreal, Loyola Campus.
Dr. Fitzpatrick has worked, lived or visited some dozen or more countries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. In 2010 and 2011 he led over 30 students on a travel study course to China visiting Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong as part of a course he created called Business and Culture in China. Dr. Fitzpatrick has over 20 years of experience in teaching and industry and has taught at Arizona State University, Rivier College, Plymouth State University, Champlain College, Saint Anselm College, University System of NH and Southern New Hampshire University. He has extensive experience in sales, sales management, marketing strategy, public relations and community economic development.
Dr. Fitzpatrick is an active scholar presenting papers at international and national conferences annually and publishing consistently in peer reviewed national and international journals. He is a proponent of micro finance and has made over 200 loans through KIVA to entrepreneurs in 40 countries and his students have made over 500.
Dr. Fitzpatrick also believes in the use of business skills sets in the solving of social issues and seeks to employ social entrepreneurship as a vehicle for making the world a better place. He and his students have financed the building of a school for girls in Afghanistan, a well in India for the Dalit, purchase of land for a school in Uganda and a Liberty Garden that provides 6000lbs of food to the NH Food Bank and garden plots for 50 refugees in Manchester, NH.

I believe that as a teacher it is my role to serve as a content expert in my field and deliver educational experiences to students that "build a bridge to relevance" to the real world. In my classes I provide students with the theoretical foundations but then seek to find an experiential activity that allows them to apply those concepts to a practical problem or opportunity. The educational technology of today allows us to "blow the walls out the classroom" and bring the world to the students. My students in the past have worked with a large restaurant in an Apprentice style competition, raised funds to build a school in Afghanistan, dug a well in India for the Dalit, made micro-loans to over 500 entrepreneurs in 50 countries and a community garden for a Food bank. I believe in the transformational power of the free market and social entrepreneurship to solve problems using business skill sets and I communicate that and implement that in my business classes. I have the best job in the world, I am a teacher.

Professor Forster-Holt holds a Ph.D. and an M.B.A. from the University of Maine, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. At the University of Maine, she developed and taught courses on small business management and accounting for the School of Business and the Foster innovation center, and she was a research associate with the Center on Aging. She joined the Husson faculty in the summer of 2011.
A Certified Management Accountant, she serves on the Small Business Committee of the Institute of Management Accountants where her area of interest is the impact of banking reform on community banks and their small business constituents. She completed coursework and exams at UNC Greensboro leading to the Registered Financial Gerontologist certification. At the Babson College Entrepreneuship conference, she presented research to international audiences on entrepreneurial exit, or “endrepreneurship” a termed she has coined. She serves on the Key Contact network of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, most recently on the issue of healthcare reform. Locally, she is the treasurer of the Orono high school hockey boosters, and served as team manager for the PVHC squirts. At UMaine, she served on the Business and sustainability committee of the School of Business, as a judge for capstone case presentations, and as a thesis committee member for several Honors College candidates.
Prior to earning her doctorate, she gathered substantial work experience in both large and small business including executive management at a large credit union, public accounting audit, and tax at the Big Four firm of Ernst & Young, sales and marketing for national accounts, SBA counseling, and consulting. Her work in asset liability management (A.L.M.) garnered national C.F.O. best practices awards and inclusion of the credit union in a national A.L.M. pilot program by the N.C.U.A.
She is also the co-owner of Shaw & Tenney, a manufacturing company that recently won MTI grants for innovations in manufacturing and commercialization of wood products. For over 150 years, Shaw & Tenney has produced the world’s finest oars, paddles, masts, spars and flagpoles.
Originally from Albany, N.Y. She has lived and worked in NYC, Sacramento, California and Bangor. She is married to Steve, and they have three children. They live in Orono.

Elisa Giaquinto received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Brenau University in Gainesville Georgia and her Master of Science in nursing from Georgia State University with a specialization in gerontology. In addition, Elisa studied social gerontology at Georgia State University and received a Certificate of Graduate Study in gerontology. While working as a clinical nurse specialist in gerontology, Elisa designed and directed an acute care medical unit for elders on Cape Cod, created a gerontology nurse resource program for acute care nurses, organized community based wellness clinics for seniors in residential retirement communities, designed and led an inpatient unit for community based elders with dementias, and helped a variety of hospitals in Georgia, Massachusetts and Rhode Island to create patterns of care delivery systems for frail acutely ill elders.
Elisa returned to school to explore the role of cultural values and systems of belief in the formation of health policy and their role in the structure of community life for older people. She earned a Master of Arts in anthropology from Brown University and continued on with doctoral studies where she examined the everyday life of older people and the relationships between social institutions, rural community life, social integration and independence in central Italy.
Elisa’s research interests continue to involve community institutions and their relationship to health and independence through the life course and specifically as they affect the lived experience of old age. Currently she is conducting ethnographic research in rural Nova Scotia.

Dr. Timothy Gladwell joined Husson University in 2012 as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) and his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB) School of Pharmacy. After graduation from UMB, Dr. Gladwell completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital followed by a Specialty Residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at UMB. Prior to his current appointment, he served as a faculty member in the pharmacy programs at Duquesne University and at UMES, and he has practiced in a variety of settings from retail pharmacy to cardiology critical care. He is currently board certified in Pharmacotherapy and Ambulatory Care by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties. His research interests include assessments of educational initiatives in a pharmacy curriculum as well as optimization of pharmacotherapy and medication management in the ambulatory setting.
Dr. Gladwell is a member of several pharmacy organizations, including the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the National Community Pharmacists Association. During his off time, he enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with his wife, Nancy Edgeworth, who is also a pharmacist.

As a pharmacy student, my development was shaped by the influence of many caring educators and pharmacy practitioners. With this in mind, I have always tried to emulate the people who made a difference in my life. My teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of applying a systematic approach to the management of drug-related problems, while encouraging students to develop the skills necessary to become life-long learners. In this way, students can continue to grow and flourish well beyond the formal education they acquire at the university setting.

Cathi received her BSN from the University of Connecticut and her MSN in Oncology Nursing from Rush University in Chicago, IL. She has practiced for 26 years in the areas of medical oncology, bone marrow transplant, home infusion, pediatrics and home health and hospice. She recently received her certification as a Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse and is a Home Health/Hospitce nurse and teaches orientation classes for CHCS.
I’ve worked at Husson as adjunct faculty in the past and I am very excited to have accepted a part time faculty position in Nursing. I live on the Maine coast with my husband and 2 daughters. I am very active in social justice activities and I hike, bicycle, cross-country ski, and read for enjoyment.

Robert Goodwin earned his undergraduate degree from Husson in 1962 and then his Masters in Education from UMO in 1973. He began working at Husson when the college moved to its current campus in the Fall, 1968 as Data Processing Instructor – which is pre-computers! He was promoted to Assistant Professor 1981 and granted tenure in 1983.
While serving as CIS Department Head off and on for many years, he accomplished the following:
Ran the administrative data processing center (punched cards) while teaching full time in the 60s; recommended and supervised the installation of two terminals connected to the Dartmouth Time-Sharing System; designed and taught the first programming course using the DTSS—(Basic) 1970; prepared the justification study for the implementation of a DEC PDP 11/40; designed and assisted in programming the administrative applications; supervised the DEC system which was used both by administration and students; designed and implemented the installation of an IBM System which was used by both administration and students, supervised the operation of the IBM system on multiple upgrades; and designed and implemented the installation of an instructional network with 50 terminals using PCs including assisting many faculty with the acquisition and learning to use their first computers.
Robert Goodwin assisted in the development of the A.S. and B.S. degrees and worked to update the curricula with new courses for currency. He also provided an array of service to the Institution including serving on the following committees:
Scholarship Committee, Commencement Committee, Dean’s Council, President’s Council, Alumni Board, NEASC Self-Studies, Promotion and Multiple-Year Contracts, and Search Committees.
Additionally, he received the Professor of the Year award from the students 17 times and was advisor to Kappa Delta Phi for 20 years. He retired in June 2009 after 41 years of teaching for Husson.
While serving as CIS Department Head off and on for many years, he accomplished the following:
Ran the administrative data processing center (punched cards) while teaching full time in the 60s; recommended and supervised the installation of two terminals connected to the Dartmouth Time-Sharing System; designed and taught the first programming course using the DTSS—(Basic) 1970; prepared the justification study for the implementation of a DEC PDP 11/40; designed and assisted in programming the administrative applications; supervised the DEC system which was used both by administration and students; designed and implemented the installation of an IBM System which was used by both administration and students, supervised the operation of the IBM system on multiple upgrades; and designed and implemented the installation of an instructional network with 50 terminals using PCs including assisting many faculty with the acquisition and learning to use their first computers.

Suzanne received her physical therapy education at University of Missouri (Columbia) a Masters of Arts in College Teaching at University of North Carolina, at Chapel Hill, and a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership at the University of Maine (Orono). She is a pediatric physical therapist and has worked many years with children with physical disabilities. Dr. Gordon conducts research into educational and leadership processes within physical therapy programs and postsecondary education. She has a number of peer-reviewed publications and presentations in these areas.

Suzanne conducts research into educational processes within physical therapy programs focusing on multicultural education and the assessment of cultural competency for program outcomes assessment. She has also established a record of qualitative research examining the discourses of higher education leadership.

Phil is a management consultant, Professor of Management, and past Chair of the Department of Business Administration. He has taught graduate and undergraduate management and economics classes for over 39 years, and has engaged in management consulting and training for over 100 prominent organizations. He has been engaged in research in human resource management for 35 years, writing and publishing more than 165 academic/professional articles and ten books in the field of management. Grant has been interviewed by a variety of national media and recognized around the world with many references to his works by other authors and scholars. He has been listed as an expert on job descriptions in Nova Law Publications National Expert Witness Dictionary. Phil is the founder of the Law of Escalating Marginal Sacrifices fundamental law of nature describing some basic forces causing human motivation. His latest book is cutting-edge in proposing a mathematical framework for the interpretation and prediction of motivation phenomena. In 1987, Grant's research uncovered 132 major management uses for the job description. This remains a key contribution to the development of the field of management.
There is so much information out there today that students need a lot of help sorting out what is really important and valuable. My approach to teaching is to find what is most worthwhile for the student and to make darn sure the student understands, appreciates, and can use this material to make a meaningful life contribution.

With a Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma in English, where Stephanie taught for the past fifteen years before coming to Maine, Stephanie teaches writing and literature courses, specializing in women's literature, American literature, and theory. Her dissertation centers on the notion that Willa Cather, in her own fin de siecle conservatism, is actually a radical critic of American consumer culture. With an affinity for virtually all periods of literature, Stephanie's favorite is the period in America from Emerson to the 1930s, including expatriate women writers, and the so-called regionalist writers like Maine's own Sarah Orne Jewett of the late nineteenth century. She is also partial to the British Romantics, especially William Blake, and to George Eliot, as well as to the British Modernists.
My favorite thing in teaching is introducing students to the idea that their own ideas actually have a history, and that many of the same contradictions in the culture today have been present in American culture since our beginnings. Many of the ideas Emerson or Whitman were wrestling with are still with us. I also continue to teach writing, not only in composition courses, but in all my courses. In my opinion, good writing and close reading are the most valuable skills students acquires in college life since they enable students to become critical thinkers about their own lives, and about the world around them and the information presented to them from that world.

Nancy Grover received her BSN from Bellevue School of Nursing at Hunter College in New York City, NY. She also has a Master's in Child, Adolescent and Family, Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Yale University School of Nursing in New Haven, CT. Nancy, an Advanced Practice RN (APRN), is nationally certified as a child/adolescent and adult psychiatric mental health CS by ANCC. In addition to her part-time faculty position in the Husson College Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nursing Program, Nancy is employed at Community Health and Counseling Services in Bangor, Maine as an APRN in collaborative practice with psychiatrists. She also is actively involved in the community as a group leader, consultant and psychotherapist.

Cliff Guthrie received his B.A. from Duke University, his M.Div. from Candler School of Theology, and his Ph.D. from Emory University. He taught for fifteen years in theological education at Emory University and Bangor Theological Seminary, during which time he published many books and articles in practical theology. In 2007 he joined the faculty at Husson University where he teaches and writes in the fields of ethics, philosophy, and religion and coordinates the philosophy area of the School of Science and Humanities and the annual Husson Symposium on Ethics and the Sacred. His most recent publication is for the journal Ethics and Behavior entitled, “Smart Technology and the Moral Life.”
I think we are witnessing what E.O. Wilson calls "Consilience" -- the bringing together of human knowledge made possible by new research in the human sciences, the breakdown of walls between academic disciplines, and the growing possibilities for collaboration and exchange via technology. As a teacher, I push students to take advantage of these new directions in the flow of information so that they become players in the times in which we live. This means helping them become active learners, people who practice habits of paying attention to the world, taking intellectual risks, and accepting responsibility for the challenges that face us. To my mind, teaching is the human art of drawing out our finest ideas and abilities, which we too often find frightening and hide. I often remember Maine's own Oscar Remick, a beloved philosophy professor and college administrator who, when asked, "And what do you teach, Professor?" replied simply, "Why students, of course."

As a native of Bangor, Marie earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science, with a minor in Public Administration and the Honors Program from the University of Maine. She returned to Bangor to practice law after she earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Maine School of Law. Today, Marie continues her legal practice on an Of Counsel basis in the areas of federal criminal appellate, mediation and Guardian Ad Litem work.
She began working at Husson in 2003, where she has delivered a variety of classes in over 24 topics ranging from introductory courses through graduate level. She has also presented courses for the Maine State Bar and at national conferences for Criminal Justice teachers and professionals.
Marie completed the Institute for Management and Leadership in Education at Harvard University in 2010 and attained Mastery level of Prior Learning Assessment through DePaul University. Currently, she is pursuing further doctoral studies in Organizational Behavior at the Chicago School for Professional Psychology.
Outside of Husson, she is the Past-President (2004) of the Penobscot County Bar Association (PCBA) and past Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Bangor Ballet. She continues to serve as a Director on the PCBA Board. Having worked with legal professionals, I understand that the key to education at the college level is to learn how to perform the work hands-on. While it is imperative to have a background from text books to learn the law, in order to apply this knowledge, one must see the legal world in action. In both the Criminal Justice and Paralegal Studies Programs, I endeavor to find full time and adjunct instructors that bring this philosophy to life in the classroom as I do. One has to love what they do to be ready to do a job everyday and the exposure that students will gain from both programs will help them find that energy.

Betty J. Harris is Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and APPE Coordinator at Husson University's School of Pharmacy in Bangor, Maine. Prior to joining the faculty at Husson, Dr. Harris was Assistant Dean of Experiential Education and Student Services at NSU College of Pharmacy from 2006 to 2011. She joined academia after an extensive career in long-term care and specialty pharmacy care with Colonial Drugs and Pharmerica.
Prior to joining PharMerica, Dr. Harris practiced in community chain pharmacy and worked part-time in hospital settings. She is a graduate of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (formerly Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science) and received her Pharm.D. degree from Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Harris is currently serving as the Treasurer of the Florida Pharmacy Association and Chair of the Policy Affairs Committee for AACP. Dr. Harris was appointed to the ACPE Board of Directors by APhA and served as a member from 2002 to 2008. She served as the 1998-99 Speaker of the APhA House of Delegates and as APhA Trustee from 1997 to 2002, Dr. Harris has served on APhA policy and reference committees. She is a past president and past speaker of the Florida Pharmacy Association (FPA), past Speaker of the FPA House of Delegates, and past president of the Florida Pharmacy Foundation, and has served as a trustee of the Foundation.
