Assistant Professor, School of Nursing
Chrystal, Chrys, is a native of Maine who received her Bachelor of Science of Nursing as well as her Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Husson College. She has nearly 20 years of nursing experience. Her past roles have included bedside nursing in ICU, neurology, CCU, and Radiology. In the most recent past, she worked as a Nurse practitioner at a large cardiology practice. During that time she cared for acute as well as chronic cardiac patients, and assisted in establishing an Outpatient Congestive Heart Failure program including infusion therapy. Before leaving the practice in 2011, Chrys was the Clinical and Administrative Director of a very busy Cardiovascular Research Program. This included national as well as international research with research center such as Brigham and Women's, Harvard, and Duke University. Chrys is currently working on a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Gonzaga University.
Husson has encouraged and prepared me for the wonderful career that I have experienced so far. Now that I have been given the opportunity to be an Assistant Professor and Director of the Family and Community Nurse Practitioner track, I hope to inspire and prepare my students to take the next step and become the absolute best professionals they can while maintaining the "art" of nursing. I am married and have 2 grown daughters. I have one grandson and one granddaughter arriving very soon. My hobbies are my family, my dogs, knitting and quilting.

Deb is a Counselor Educator, Licensed Professional Counselor (LCPC), Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), as well as a certified Professional School Counselor. She joined the faculty at Husson in 2007, having previously served as a faculty member in the Counselor Education program at the University of Southern Maine. Her career spans more than three decades serving education in Maine as a teacher, school counselor, and counselor educator. In addition, she has a private practice offering counseling, consulting, and clinical supervision.
Deb has a passion for rural Maine and its people, especially its counselors and young people. Her areas of interest include mental health counseling, school counseling, career counseling, ethical decision-making, and clinical supervision.
Deb has an undergraduate degree in history, a master's degree, and a doctoral degree in Counselor Education all from the University of Maine. Deb is an active member of several national, regional, and state professional organizations that serve the profession of counseling.
Deb is, most importantly, a wife, mother, and grandmother; the best 'careers' of all!

The profession of Counseling has evolved significantly over the span of my career from vocational and school counseling to the Counselor of today who may specialize in Mental Health, School, Career, Pastoral and Spiritual, Addictions, Counselor Education and Supervision, Rehabilitation, or any of the 22 specialties identified by the American Counseling Association. The search for Counselor Identity continues with the 2020 visioning work of the ACA.
Unity in the Counseling profession has been a goal and a passion for which I have worked throughout my career. I firmly believe that we, Counselors, are a noble and highly skilled profession, but that we are too small to be divisive. Through my work at Husson University I apply this philosophy by engaging students in the four counseling programs together in the same core courses and in Practicum and Internship classes. I believe this fosters a spirit of community, understanding, and unity and enables counselors to work collaboratively in practice. I am excited that Husson University’s focus on interprofessional collaboration now encourages us to extend this philosophy and practice to promote teaming and unity with students preparing to become teachers, health care practitioners, and business and criminal justice professionals.
I am pleased and proud to call myself a Counselor, to practice in several of the roles of this wonderful and rewarding profession, and to have the pleasure of educating new Professional Counselors and Human Relations specialists.

Professor Forster-Holt holds a Ph.D. and an M.B.A. from the University of Maine, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. At the University of Maine, she developed and taught courses on small business management and accounting for the School of Business and the Foster innovation center, and she was a research associate with the Center on Aging. She joined the Husson faculty in the summer of 2011.
A Certified Management Accountant, she serves on the Small Business Committee of the Institute of Management Accountants where her area of interest is the impact of banking reform on community banks and their small business constituents. She completed coursework and exams at UNC Greensboro leading to the Registered Financial Gerontologist certification. At the Babson College Entrepreneuship conference, she presented research to international audiences on entrepreneurial exit, or “endrepreneurship” a termed she has coined. She serves on the Key Contact network of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, most recently on the issue of healthcare reform. Locally, she is the treasurer of the Orono high school hockey boosters, and served as team manager for the PVHC squirts. At UMaine, she served on the Business and sustainability committee of the School of Business, as a judge for capstone case presentations, and as a thesis committee member for several Honors College candidates.
Prior to earning her doctorate, she gathered substantial work experience in both large and small business including executive management at a large credit union, public accounting audit, and tax at the Big Four firm of Ernst & Young, sales and marketing for national accounts, SBA counseling, and consulting. Her work in asset liability management (A.L.M.) garnered national C.F.O. best practices awards and inclusion of the credit union in a national A.L.M. pilot program by the N.C.U.A.
She is also the co-owner of Shaw & Tenney, a manufacturing company that recently won MTI grants for innovations in manufacturing and commercialization of wood products. For over 150 years, Shaw & Tenney has produced the world’s finest oars, paddles, masts, spars and flagpoles.
Originally from Albany, N.Y. She has lived and worked in NYC, Sacramento, California and Bangor. She is married to Steve, and they have three children. They live in Orono.

Suzanne received her physical therapy education at University of Missouri (Columbia) a Masters of Arts in College Teaching at University of North Carolina, at Chapel Hill, and a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership at the University of Maine (Orono). She is a pediatric physical therapist and has worked many years with children with physical disabilities. Dr. Gordon conducts research into educational and leadership processes within physical therapy programs and postsecondary education. She has a number of peer-reviewed publications and presentations in these areas.

Suzanne Gordon
Suzanne conducts research into educational processes within physical therapy programs focusing on multicultural education and the assessment of cultural competency for program outcomes assessment. She has also established a record of qualitative research examining the discourses of higher education leadership.

Jane Jarvi, Ed.D., joined the School of Pharmacy, Husson University, as the Manager of Educational Programming for Experiential Education in the Department of Pharmacy Practice in August 2012. Her educational journey is varied and diverse having attended and/or worked at seven different universities from coast to coast. She earned her B.S. at Washington State University (Recreation), her M.S. from Memphis State University (Therapeutic Recreation, CTRS) and her Ed.D. from Idaho State University (Higher Education Leadership). University job experiences range from physical plant, art galleries, and student affairs, to medical and pharmacy schools. This diversity brings a plethora of experience to her new position.
Since 2009, Jane has been the volunteer coordinator of the White Art Gallery at Husson and became an instructor of “Husson Experience” starting in 2011; Husson Experience has two different avenues (active and passive), in which students can hone life-long learning skills. Her new position allows her to provide the educational programing that will facilitate pharmacy students, preceptors, and faculty success in the experiential education segment of the pharmacy curriculum.

The Husson Pharmacy program was approved by the Maine Department of Education in June, 2007. Dr. Rodney Larson was appointed the Founding Dean of the Husson School of Pharmacy in August, 2007. Dr. Larson is overseeing the accreditation process through the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and is also instituting the search for faculty. As faculty appointments are announced, they will be posted on this site.
Rod earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from Ferris State University in 1988. Soon after, he entered graduate school at the University of Florida, and then transferred to the University of Minnesota. He earned a Ph.D. in Social and Behavioral Pharmacy with an emphasis on Ethics at the latter in 1994. Upon graduation, Rod accepted a faculty position a the Idaho State University College of Pharmacy where he taught such courses as Introduction to Pharmacy, Case Studies, Quality Assurance, and Pharmacotherapeutics. In 1997, he was awarded the Rufus A. Lyman award for co-authoring the most outstanding article published in the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education that year. In 2000, he took a position as Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Academic Affairs at the Ferris State University College of Pharmacy, where he held this position until arriving at Husson College in 2007. Rod served as Vice President and President of his local recreational soccer club in Michigan, is an amateur photographer, and enjoys hiking, camping and kayaking.

My philosophies regarding the provision of patient care and student education run parallel. I feel that patients and their needs ought to be the primary focus of everyone working within the healthcare system. For example, pharmacists should place meeting their patients' drug-related needs as their foremost responsibility within their practice. Likewise, students and their educational needs should be at the center of everything a college does. With this focus on student needs, a strong and meaningful educational experience can be delivered that will prepare graduates for a lifetime of contribution to their chosen profession/career and society in general.

Although primarily the clinical coordinator for the Physical Therapy program, Karen also teaches and assists in the therapeutic skills labs as well as in advising research projects. She received her bachelor's degree in biology from Albright College in Pennsylvania, a master's degree in physical therapy from Hahnemann University, a master’s degree in adult and higher education from the University of Southern Maine, and a DPT from Simmons College. Karen is a Credentialed Trainer for the APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program. Her area of clinical interest is in neurological physical therapy while her research focus centers on pedagogical issues in physical therapy education.
Your education in Physical Therapy is not limited to the classroom. Clinical experiences will provide you with opportunities to apply and hone your patient care skills. Be open to, and take advantage of, these opportunities for professional and personal growth. Your clinical education may take you to one of our many clinical sites in Maine, or to sites located throughout the United States.

Karen's research focus centers on pedagogical issues in physical therapy education. Recent projects have examined factors impacting student satisfaction of clinical instruction and the use of qualitative tools in program outcomes assessment.

Laurie Mouradian is a pediatric occupational therapist with a specialized clinical focus working with infants and families experiencing newborn intensive care (NICU). She has her BS in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University in Medford, MA and her MS is from the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Emory University in Atlanta GA. She earned her doctorate, an ScD, from Sargent College of Allied Health, Boston University, Boston, MA. Her research has involved newborn infant behavioral assessment as well as issues related to family-centered care in the NICU. She is a NIDCAP (Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program) trainer; NIDCAP is an evidence-based approach to providing individualized, family-centered developmentally supportive care of newborn infants in the NICU.
I am very pleased to be returning to Bangor after being "away" for close to 30 years. It is very exciting to see how Husson and the community have grown in that time. I am impressed with all the developments in the College of Health and Education and look forward to working with the excellent Occupational Therapy faculty here.

Dr. Dan Robinson was appointed in August 2010 as Fellow at Husson University as well as Professor of Pharmacy Practice, School of Pharmacy. Dr. Robinson also continues as Professor Emeritus of Pharmacy and Medicine at the University of Florida (UF) Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research where he founded the UF Family Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Service, UF Center for Computer Applications in Pharmacy, the Working Professional Doctor of Pharmacy (WPPD) Program, and Simkin Software Company. The WPPD program has graduated over 1200 Doctor of Pharmacy students in every state in the U.S. He also is a co-founder of the UF Center for Spirituality and Health. Dan served for 6 years as UF College of Pharmacy Executive Associate Dean.
Dan has published over 100 scientific publications and authored two healthcare books. He was named Teacher of the Year for the College of Medicine Family Practice Medical Group and has served as a Column Editor Editorial Board Member for Annals of Pharmacotherapy. Dan received his B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia in June 1969, his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Cincinnati, and his Residency in Hospital Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacokinetics at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio in June 1975. Dan developed many internationally marketed programs for clinical pharmacokinetics, drug use evaluation, patient monitoring, nutritional assessment, and adverse drug reactions including a recent program for tracking patient medication adherence. Dan has published over 100 scientific publications and authored two healthcare books. He was named Teacher of the Year for the College of Medicine Family Practice Medical Group and has served as a Column Editor Editorial Board Member for Annals of Pharmacotherapy. Dan received his B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia in June 1969, his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Cincinnati, and his Residency in Hospital Pharmacy and Clinical Pharmacokinetics at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio in June 1975. Dan developed many internationally marketed programs for clinical pharmacokinetics, drug use evaluation, patient monitoring, nutritional assessment, and adverse drug reactions including a recent program for tracking patient medication adherence. Dan enjoys honoring the sacredness in each person's life stories and goals so that each of us might enjoy a holistic integrated career and personal life. Dan began practicing and leading centering prayer within nature retreats in 1990 through the teachings of Thomas Keating. Dan completed a 3 year Franciscan Friar Ecumenical Program in June 2004 to become a Minister of Spiritual Direction for all faiths. Dan has led numerous men's and couples spiritual growth and life/career coaching retreats. He designed the introspection labyrinth for Sholom Park, Ocala, FL www.sholompark.org and has recently served on the Camp Weed Episcopal Retreat Board, the Florida Shade and Fresh Water Methodist Ministers Retreat Board, and the national Wounded Warriors Retreat Board. He is currently a board member for the Northeast Guild for Spiritual Formation (Bass Harbor, ME) and is Vice-Chair, Spiritual Directors International Coordinating Council. His goals involve a desire to serve others in the integration of spiritual care and health care through compassionate patient care, mentoring students and young faculty by helping each person identify their health care and career goals. Dan's passions also include leading pilgrimages to sacred places/thin spaces and designing distance education programs. He currently teaches Spirit within Life to occupational therapy and other health care professionals as well as an Individualizing Drug Dosage Design Course for 5th year doctor of pharmacy students. His clinical and research practice is at the Penobscot Native American Health Clinic, Indian Island of Old Town, Maine.
