Clubs & Organizations

The Accounting Society is an organization made up of mostly Accounting majors. Our goal is to get students familiarized with the field and the opportunities available for graduates. We try to meet our goal through hosting luncheon meetings with guest speakers from our respective field, by going on various trips to see area accounting firms, and by inviting campus recruiters to our meetings. We try to help students connect with potential employers and internship opportunities. The Society also participates in numerous philanthropic events, helping students meet their community service requirement. On a lighter note, the Society has an annual holiday party and an end of the year party. We also try to put together a trip to Boston annually to see the city, an accounting firm, and meet fine arts requirements. Overall, the Accounting Society gives students a chance to get to know their peers and contribute to the campus community.

The mission of the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists is to be the collective voice of student pharmacists, to provide opportunities for professional growth, to improve patient care, and to envision and advance the future of pharmacy. Currently, more than 30,000 student pharmacists from each of the 110 schools and colleges of pharmacy nationwide are members of APhA/ASP. Membership is open to all current pharmacy and pre-pharmacy students. Membership benefits include access to professional development resources, career guidance and networking opportunities, leadership development opportunities, discounted textbooks, liability insurance, care insurance and the APhA Visa Card. The local ASP chapter, in addition to being involved in numerous patient care service learning projects, conducts numerous fundraising activities to help send chapter members to the annual regional and national meetings.

The cheerleaders and dancers serve many purposes on campus. You will find them on the sidelines of the football field and basketball court. The squads consist of members from various backgrounds and experience levels. The teams are also involved in the community, they volunteer with programs such as Make-A-Wish, Boys and Girls Club and the Susan B. Koman. The cheer also competes in the spring. Campus Crusades for Christ, now known as CRU, is a campus organization that seeks newcomers looking to share with others and to serve God together. We believe in and are committed to community engagement through community service to local nursing homes, homeless shelters, and other community groups. Our goals are to reach out to non-Christians on campus and to support Christians on campus through strengthening our relationships with Christ and each other.

The Education Students Association (ESA) is a club for all education majors at Husson University, including Secondary English, Secondary Life Science, Secondary Physical Science, and Elementary and Physical Education! Being a member is a great way to get to know the other students in your chosen major, develop friendships, and get involved with events and services on the campus and in the community. We plan community service activities, go to plays and other fine arts activities, hold fundraisers, participate in Open House and other activities on campus. As all of our members are going into the field of education, it's a great place to get ideas for your clinical and practicum experiences, and we work together toward meeting club and community service requirements.

The Greek Governing Board (GGB) oversees all fraternities and sororities on campus. They hold weekly meetings and pride themselves in upholding the Greek principles and traditions at Husson that our Greek clubs were founded upon. Husson's Greek organizations are some of the oldest organizations on campus and serve as a network to alumni. The GGB hosts and participates in events such as Rush night, various community service opportunities on and off campus, Homecoming, and also organizes the traditions of Greek Week and Greek Games yearly.

Our association acts in the best spirit of hospitality. All students are welcome so long as they are willing to provide great service to the community through various philanthropic and charitable events. We participate in both on- and off-campus activities while developing our networking skills. We also enjoy organizing and attending fine arts outings both for credit and for fun.

Husson Improv Club is one of the newest groups on campus this year. It is for any student who is interested in this form of performing art. It involves students immediately without having to audition, learn lines or blocking. Instead they learn to watch, listen and think on their feet. Improv is also a good way to develop confidence, to build character, and to understand the various aspects of acting and drama. Many different types of improvs are presented, ranging from the serious to the hilarious. Husson Improv Club does public performances throughout the year at the Furman Center, and will take part in workshops with other improv groups such Bangor Improv Group. This is an exciting group to be a part of, and there is never a dull moment. Whether it is watching or taking part in the games, it's a fun experience for all.
